  • Have you bought an 003 package as detailed on this page?  It seems to be a new (to me) requirement that you need a package as well as the 003 prefix.   https://www.ais.th/en/consumers/packag

Which prefixes did you use? At least TRY to be helpful to the OP. 😊

True

Cost 6 baht

But has proven that a) the number is correct and b) it can be dialled from here.  If the cost is prohibitive then experiment with prefixes and apps but at least 2 things have been established.

This is a long shot and I don't say it will work. Try using a VPN connected to the UK and try the 0800 number. If it doesn't work, what have you lost?

That TRUE is cheaper than AIS for direct calls? 😊 I have AIS and so didn't try that method, as I didn't want to pay 19 baht for the experiment. But I did try 003 and it failed.

It's always been about that price on the few calls I've had to make.  They do have a cheap prefix (00600) at 1 baht/min.  I just tried that and it also worked, another 1 baht invested in this learning exercise.  Albeit not much help to an AIS user!

Do you have a TRUE Tourist SIM? Sounds like it. It's sounds like it's worth them springing for a 50 baht SIM. Top up with another 50 baht in order to use the 00600 method.

Do you subscribe to the 003 package? Might be necessary.

Yes, it was originally a 30 day tourist SIM several years ago.

My post was regard to your use of 001 when it is not necessary. The 18 baht + VAT cost is another thing. But it's obvious that the OP was entering the number wrongly in the first place.

Hi... If you're suggesting I'm entering it wrong then what is the correct format here as I've tried many variations.

Fyi... The 003 is the AIS code to get a cheaper rate.

This is the original number;

+44 800 358 6552

I've tried these variations;

003+44 0800 3586552

003+44+800 3586552

003 44 0800 3586552

003 44 800 3586552

None of them work and the info online states this as the correct method;

003 44 800 3586552

Open to anybody showing correct method, here and Skype can't be used as technical glitch not remembering previous account when logging in and can't set up a new account as doesn't send code to email.

Beyond frustrated.

I have AIS sim with 003 prefix. I'm not going to get a TRUE sim and register with passport etc etc etc. Need to establish how to call from AIS sim.

Was looking for a AIS resolve as bizarre that can't get through but after reading msgs here. it's suggested I could get a TRUE sim card, which tbh is a pain on top of all the other things I need to do BUT if it works i can move on with my life, So True sim card and the 00600 is an international code at 1b a minute uh and can anybody tell me the formatting of the number then being that it's an 0880 number please.

Try these with 005 prefix instead of 003.

None of them work.

Try the alternative numbers supplied for eBay. If it doesn't work, AFAIK you would need specifically a TRUE Tourist SIM to obtain those prices. Maybe 49 baht from 7-11.

I use my free VPN Tunnel Bear to open an internet gateway to UK, then Skype to call the toll free 800 number.

I would like to know the answer to this problem too.

Hi All

I've been pulling my hair out these past days concerning calling a UK 0800 number with an AIS sim card!

It's a number to contact Ebay which is 0800 358 6552 in the UK.

The info I have and I have tried many variations of it, is with AIS, to use;

003 (international calls) +44 800 358 6552.

But the call doesn't go through, I've tried without the +, added the 0 before 800 etc etc etc to no avail.

Any help is hugely appreciated.

Cannot use 800 or variant when calling Canada.  They are north America numbers only

Not sure what this means as the number I am calling, as clearly stated is in the UK.

Obviously a mistake.

Have you tried any of the the alternative numbers provided?

I got the True sim card today, mentioned the 00600 prefix and was told it's 006 then UK code 44 etc and 7b a minute? Said it's also roaming? My understanding of roaming is if you're in a different country to the sim you're using, no?

I was surprised when she said 7b as yourself and others have mentioned...1 or  2 baht.

As far as I know you can use "+", "006" or "00600" as the prefix.  + or 006 is 5 baht, 00600 is 1 baht.  Try 00600, it worked for me yesterday.  As for the roaming thing, either you misunderstood her or she is clueless.

Just download Skype which is free plus you can dial 0800 numbers for free

You can also download the app Mytello for really cheap international calls which instead of Ais 18 THB per minute,I pay 2 Thb
