I guess they didn't take a look after it had rained, when most of the remaining sand is in bags on the beach. It is a great facility though, makes space for concerts etc....

Pattaya Beach has recently earned three prestigious awards, spotlighting its outstanding beauty and commitment to sustainable tourism practices.

Just need to get rid of the obese, elderly shirtless foreigners and the beauty will shine.

Pattaya Beach excelled, particularly in the category of 'natural tourist attraction quality standards'

Sure - regardless of the fact that the 'natural tourist attraction quality standards' have gone down in past couple of decades as a result of development in nutritional habits in the country, still not that bad by global standards.

Artificial tourist attraction standards may have gone up as a result of developments in polymer chemistry, but of course subject to personal assessment of punters whether that is good or bad.

Next, Pattaya police will be voted most efficient force in Thailand.

Most profitable.

Pay for positions is still alive and thriving.

Who is Pattaya paying to win those awards as it not a beach I rate at all

And throw in the tourists sleeping  on it Thailand just lives in its golden axe bubble

Paradise? The Maldives, maybe.

Tikehau Island, French Polynesia. Can't decide whether you want white- or pink-sand beaches? ...

Dreamland Beach, Bali. ...

Menjangan Island, Bali

Gili Islands, Lombok

Raja Ampat, West Papua

 Busuanga Island, Philippines

Seagrass Bay, Laucala Island, Fiji, Ypao Beach, Tumon, Guam

Honopu Beach, Kauai, Hawaii

Maipio Valley Beach, Big Island, Hawaii, Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. ...

Harbour Island, Bahamas. ...

Blue Beach (La Chiva), Vieques, Puerto Rico. ...

Trunk Bay, St. John, USVI.

Devil’s Bay, Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands

Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos

Lindquist Beach, St. Thomas

Palm Beach, Aruba, San Blas, Panama, Oludeniz, Turkey

Porto Katsiki, Lefkada, Greece

And locally try Banana Beach, Koh Hey Island, Phuket

Any mention of any beach on the Gulf Coast of Thailand, as a paradise is a stretch. The area between Pak Nam Pran and Ban Saphan Boi, is probably the best stretch of beach on the Gulf, in my opinion.

Pattaya Beach has recently earned three prestigious awards

This recognition, granted by esteemed organisations such as the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research and the Department of Tourism

I just awarded myself a prestigious award which will go on the shelf where I keep my other self-awarded awards.

I want to thank myself for this award, thank I.

ISO 13009:2015 establishes general requirements and recommendations for beach operators that offer tourist and visitor services. It provides guidance for both beach operators and users regarding the delivery of sustainable management and planning, beach ownership, sustainable infrastructure and service provision needs, including beach safety, information and communication, cleaning and waste removal.

Interesting ISO13009 doesn’t cover water quality, so you may have a pretty looking sandy / aggregate beach, with a bit of signage and an organised beach cleaning operation i.e. a couple of bins and coconut branch  beach umbrellas, and a couple of indigenous natives selling the local brew. Yet in terms of water quality standards, much is driven by The World Health Organisation (WHO), which in recent days has lost a shedload of funding.

As a former active member of the SAS in the UK, that's Surfers against Sewage incase there's any confusion, I wouldn't even dip my toes in the local water.

Nestled just an hour from Bangkok, Pattaya Beach has recently earned three prestigious awards, spotlighting its outstanding beauty and commitment to sustainable tourism practices

Must be a different beach to the one the Indians are using?

"just an hour from Bangkok"

(while you might need an hour to reach the motorway)

When an article starts like that I know what to expect.

Unworldly drivel.

How can you use words like "eco" and "sustainable" for a center of air polluting terrible traffic and mountains of styrofoam takeaways.

Once I see "nestled"....I'm out of there ....

Pattaya has always been and will always be a sh*thole full of dirty old men with one hand on their wallets and the other on some young girl, getting drunk and breaking the laws

Minorities exist
