Former Russian Beauty Queen Faces Harsh Conditions in Thai Immigration Detention

In a troubling incident, Alexandra Tikhomirova, a former Little Miss Russia, finds herself in a harrowing predicament in Thailand, reportedly enduring challenging conditions in a notorious Thai detention centre.

The 23-year-old, who gained fame for her childhood beauty queen title in 2013, is accused of overstaying her visa by a mere 10 days, leading to her detainment in Pattaya.

Held in confinement with limited access to basic necessities, Tikhomirova is alleged to be sharing her cell with more hardened criminals, a situation that has raised alarms among human rights advocates. Reports indicate that she is likely to be moved to Bangkok’s grim Immigration Detention Centre (IDC), an overcrowded facility notorious for its dire conditions.

The IDC routinely accommodates double its intended capacity, with detainees, including vulnerable women and children, suffering in lengthy detentions before facing deportation proceedings.

The young model’s plight has caught significant attention in Russia. Allegations surfaced that Tikhomirova was previously expelled from Thailand due to legal issues before temporarily relocating to Dubai. Upon her return to Thailand, she failed to renew her visa, leading to her current legal troubles.

Despite allegations from some media outlets suggesting she may have worked as an escort, her family firmly denies these claims, asserting her innocence and expressing their support.

Family members, shocked by the situation, stress that Tikhomirova, once a talented gymnast and successful model, holds a different ethos. Maria, a relative, lamented the assumptions circulating about her, declaring, “Her parents care about her, they have a good family.”

As the legal case progresses, Tikhomirova faces a troubling future in the infamous Thai judicial system. Human rights observers express concern over the IDC’s deteriorative environment, highlighting the urgency for reform and the humane treatment of detainees, irrespective of their infractions.

In parallel, other foreign nationals have also encountered unexpected legal troubles in Thailand. British citizen Andrew Hopkins recently experienced a misadventure while on holiday.

Hopkins, hoping for a relaxing time in the sun-drenched haven of Pattaya, instead ended up facing legal and physical trials following an innocuous misunderstanding. His incident underscores the sometimes unpredictable legal landscape faced by visitors.

Thailand's immigration laws are strict, with visa overstays routinely resulting in detention and deportation. Individuals travelling to the country are reminded to thoroughly understand and comply with visa conditions to avoid similar situations.

With Tikhomirova's current reliance on possible diplomatic intervention, her ordeal serves as a stark reminder of the complexities and potential perils foreign nationals may face abroad, as reported by The Thaiger.

Since when has it become a big deal to overstay your visa?Rules are constantly changing so need to be alert of the changes. Old days 50 baht a day for over stays. In saying that in the 70s one budha stick could land you 12 months in those <deleted> hole prisons. Now legal dope stores every 20 meters.

Must be a psycho or addict.  Otherwise at age 23 and hot how do you mess up your life so badly.  She should have multiple sponsors on speed dial.

If that was it, a 10 day overstay it may seem a bit harsh , but then we learn......" Tikhomirova was previously expelled from Thailand due to legal issues before temporarily relocating to Dubai"

So it's her own stupid fault!

Bizarre story. Could use some more pics

She obviously has no money, and is seeking support from some lost soul.

Obviously, that's the point of the law, just as it is in every country, particularly for repeat offenders.

So, because she is a pretty young woman this is a story? If she would be old and ugly, or if it would be a guy, then it does not matter?

I didn't know that Thailand should have special prisons for pretty women.

No sympathy at all from me for this weeping young devotchka.

Either get the proper visa, maintain it legally or face the consequences...

Hope she enjoys sleeping on the cold concrete floor and sharing a bog with about 20 others at the IDC.

Elvis from Tupelo.

Since the relevant Immigration Law was instigated and remains in effect.  Are you suggesting that all overstays should ignored by the authorities?

How much is her bail?  Can I pay it and she has house arrest at my home.  She could earn her keep somehow, cleaning maybe.

Where was any of that stated to be the case?

Maybe she can suck her way out of it!

Do you think that her previous expulsion and her subsequent return and being expelled again has led to her "terrible treatment"?

She was stupid to come back after being kicked out once before.

How often do you read posts like above about ordinary people.

There must be enough people in those cells that there could be more than one article every day.

In another "Headline" post it is  described as "Sin City", which I think is more appropriate!

Here's the important question...  Are those lips real or injected?

She's not hard to look at, either way.

Story from 'The Mirror' UK - what's happened to 'The Daily Mail' - they missed this one !

Getting strict on immigration laws is one thing that I agree on, but damn, isn't it possible to be a bit "human"? Why treat people like garbage? Land Of Smiles....yeah... sure...😫
