I have said this before, but will repeat it. Keep the razor head in a small cup of vegetable oil to prevent the cutting edge from oxidising, which is what blunts it. I get at least 30 shaves from one blade.

They are made in Usa, Germany, Russia and China, I'm many other places as well.

 

The worst Gillette blades I buy, is most likely produced in China and sold here in Thailand.

 

There is a major difference from what I bought in Norway and those I buy here. Even more expensive here, so I always brings a pack with me.

Why not try a delapitory cream. Easy to find in pharmacies in Thailand and globally. Some expensive some very cheap. VEET basic good and cheap. Many other brands appear online shopping sites. Good for facial hair and for removing pubic / under arm hair.

 

For facial hair, shampoo first then apply the cream* and rub it in well, wait 5 or 6 minutes, then remove the excess cream and the dead hair with a small towel / cloth with warm water. For foreigners need to repeat every 3 to 5 days, case by case. All so simple and leaves the skin very smooth.

For pubic hair, shampoo, dry, then use an electric clipper to cut the hair down to perhaps 2 mm, then apply the cream* and rub it in well, wait 5 or 6 minutes, then remove the excess cream and the dead hair with a small towel / cloth with warm water. For foreigners need to repeat every 3 to 5 days approx. All so simple and leaves the skin very smooth.

 

     * Best to not apply more cream than recommended or it will burn the skin and leave               dark patches which can take a couple 1 or even 2 weeks to disappear.

 

Have a professional swimmer in the family, uses basic VEET cream all the time,  never had any issues, all done very quickly.  

 

Worth a try. But check prices, VEET basic very inexpensive. VEET (and other brands) which have many additives, vitamins etc., very expensive. Basic does the job well, but not more than recommended.

Yes, you are right. My Fusion 16-value pack from Australia I bought back, says Made in Germany. I tried the Fusion ones here and they are copies and crap.

Fusion? Lol, they are Rubbish. Mach 3 best out there,

All the various models since then have not surpassed the Mach 3 (based on closeness, comfort of shave, accuracy & price point)

 

Tried various other types but they just don't perform as good as the Mach 3

i've been using electric for years. dry shaving. no creams.

not as close a shave as a razor, but not sure what difference that makes. does it really matter? it grows back the next day and you gotta keep shaving. 

one thing i like is I can shave while watching podcasts on my laptop. whereas a real shaver you gotta be in the mirror.

I've had a few electrics, never found one I liked. Maybe it a shape of the face thin

Bt.329 for 3 blades, they last me 3 months.

I know that's a joke, but blacks often have a problem with razor-bumps, which is why so many use it. I had a black roomate that used it and swore by it. I tried it, but it's a PITA and I don't have a bump problem, but I assume it's great for anyone with a razor-bump problem.

My advice to the OP is buy a good razor handle (even a hard plastic one will do the trick) and fill it with blades from Dorco or whatever brand is out there. I've seen Dorco safety blades sold on the streets by vendors in BKK in packs of 5 or 10.

 

Get a good shave soap like the Italian Proraso (I have yet to find a better smelling shave soap) and a brush and get back to basics.

 

Take your time, turn your morning shave into a daily ritual. Working with a brush and soap is more satisfying than slathering on some aerosol gel product.

 

The multiblade stuff (3, 4, 5 ... blades now?)  is just clever marketing, not necessarily better. It's certainly a lot more expensive.

Was it your experience with Harry's Razors that formed the basis for your comments? Or your lack of experience with Harry's Razors?  

 

Do you strop your razor before use? If not, why weren't you taught how to use them correctly? Professionals (barbers, hair stylists, etc. people who cut hair for a living) all do.

 

'Opinions' are fine, but only when based on facts and experience.

Otherwise, they're just wrong.
Try Harry's Razors and then come back and give us your 'informed' opinion.

I beleive the actual blades in most multiblade razors are Israeli, except the Feather razors.

In spite of what some may say, I think a double-edge safety razor is still the best option.  Passable ones are available on Lazada for a few hundred baht and blades are extremely inexpensive.
