Should European leaders confront Trump and tell him what they think about him?

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

In Ukraine and Gaza Trump behaves as if he is the world's king and he can just dictate what others should do.

And many leaders are very careful not to criticize Trump. Because if they do that, then Trump retaliates.

But if they the leaders are nice to Trump, and don't confront him, how long will that last? Trump does some more, and they do nothing. And then Trump does some more, and they do nothing. For how long?

I.e. just image Trump would just declare he takes over Greenland. He puts some military up there and tells the world they should just accept it. Unfortunately, this is not as unimageable anymore like it used to be just a couple of months ago.

So, my suggestion is that all European leaders, and anybody else in the world who feels like it, should tell Trump they had enough of his stupid tantrums and enough of his lies. Tell him to play fair or get lost!

Obviously, this would be difficult for Europe. But in a way it would probably unite them more against the common enemy. Get it over with. The friendship between the USA and Europe is over, accept it.

If Europe continues to kotow to Trump with his crazy behavior, how could the situation get any better?

Actions speak louder than words.

Trump imposes tariffs, say nothing, impose reciprocal tariffs.

Trump threatens Canada, say nothing, shut down electricity supply, cease oil supply. Sell to the Chinese and EU instead.

Bullies only understand one thing, a good solid smack in the mouth.

More calls to violence. Reeducation centers as called for by Hillary can't come soon enough to reprogram lefties back to reality.

Trump has made plain what he thinks of Western Europe. As soon as he imposes a surrender on Ukraine, his focus will turn to Asia. Europe should follow his lead.

However, unfortunately in the short term Europe needs the US more than they need us, so Europe will just have to bite the bullet for a while.

Trump has really taken over your mind, which is a great shame as you used to be a decent poster.

Europe doesn't care about America, or which rich corrupt liar runs it.

And what about his stance on the Gaza conflict, should they tell him what they think about that, if they even know themselves ?

I notice that you, and several other left wingers haven’t made any comments on either of the posts about the appalling pantomime Hamas created when they returned the bodies of the child and the baby that they had been holding hostage, along with some random female that was not their mother, whose body is still not returned …. I wonder why ?

Haha, anyone who thinks Trump would care is delusional he would laugh in their face.

Sorry, no.

There was a time when Europe and America were pretty much aligned.

Trump is the main reason why that is not the case anymore.

Other American politicians also changed a little here and there, but normally this happened slow and with diplomacy.

Now it seems Trump wants to destroy the whole US Europe relationship in weeks. And the way he is doing it, it seems he succeeds.

I think that is not good for the USA and not good for Europe.

I am sure many people in the USA oppose Trump and what he does, but it seems most of them don't stand up and even if they would stand up it's hard to know if it would make any difference.

As far as I see it, and looking at written articles and interviews, Trump is just destroying this relationship without hope it can be rebuilt anytime soon. Sad, very sad.

Trump cares a lot. Look at how he reacted to Zelenskyy depending on what Zelenskyy said.

Trump can't handle it if people tell him the truth.

I just watched a video that claims the EU will invest hundred of billions to boost its military so it doesn't have to depend on help or any alliance with the US anymore.

Trump is having major ramifications on geopolitics all over the world.

But to quote Shakespeare, there is nothing good or bad. Who knows what's good or what's bad?

All we know is things will be different. The EU is adapting. Canada might cozy up to the EU and there even talks of Canada joining the EU.

I have to admit I don't really care about dead bodies. When they are dead, they are dead.

And coming back to above, Trumps Gaza Rivera is ethnic cleansing, which is not only morally horrific but also an international crime.

The bodies per se, are just remains; the utter cruelty, savagery and foulness of the charade that was produced to return them, that's unforgettable, and to my mind unforgivable.

To me, it is yet further justification for sealing off Gaza from Israel, and leaving them (HAMAS) to sit in the wreckage. Aid? Food rations and medical treatments. Brought in from Egypt. Beyond that, well HAMAS are the authors of the destruction, and the people they rule seem to be enthusiastic for them. Let them get on with it.

Good idea!

They should confront him.

He loves that!

Back in the days of the Cold War European countries were largely dependent upon US equipment, aircraft, artillery, tanks and logistics.

Now there is little if anything that the US produces in the military field that cannot be made in Europe and elsewhere in the world. Look at Poland, they have in the last 15 years completely rebuilt their military, getting rid of what was left over from the Soviet times. Tanks: German Leopard 2, Artillery, British AS90 gun on a South Korean Chassis; relatively little of their kit is of American origin, and that which is is supplemented by similar equipments from Europe or South Korea.

The "divorce" with America, initiated by Trump will be inconvenient, but life will continue.

Sure.  Absolutely.  He won't care, but go for it.  European leaders don't realize they have become irrelevant.  Their own voters are going to let them know in 2025.  Then watch them release their inner totalitarians.  All eyes on the German elections on March 23rd.  That will be a bell-weather of what's to come. Stand by.......   🇩🇪

European leaders already have told him, and he knows it.  They need to pay their fair share in NATO period.

Uncle Sam aka "Big Daddy Warbucks" isn't funding Europe security any longer while EU leader's skate.
Like Starmer sputtering about putting UK boots-on-the-ground in Ukraine but but but "Big Daddy Warbucks needs to backstop us" (snivel whimper shake).  The UK and EU leaders are still living in La La Land.  They won't be for long.  The EU "Leaders" strut and crow like cocks about sending their youth to die in Ukraine while they and their own kids sit in safety back home.  Screw that - it's a new dawn. As the old saying goes, "Put up or shut up."

They will listen and cough up more money. Less US taxpayers subsidising the EU and NATO. Something tells me lots of Americans won't be too unhappy with this.

He's kind of insane to talk drivel publicly  (Zelensky has 4 % approval rating, Ukraine started the war), he must know he's just made this up and no one believes him.

Or has his narcissism so taken hold he thinks he can just make things up and so they're true?

Either way he's seriously deluded and needs to spend time recuperating in some mental asylum.

Yes Trump owns them. The OP has never been to the US nor Ukraine most likely.

Maybe he made it up. Or maybe Putin told him, and he believes it.

One way or another, there is no hope of constructive conversation with Trump.

And what difference does that make?

Would I know more about the USA and Ukraine if I would have visited those countries? Sure.

But by going to school, reading books, following the news, I know something about history and what is going on.

And I met enough people to be able to identify an ahole, Trump.

Never tell your enemy your plans, Europe needs to get its house in order, i.e ramp up militry spending and traning, stop buying american and support each other. Western allies of the USA now know you cannot trust america, if all the countries that trump pissed off got togeather and boycott american products then the usa will get the message.

Well, if as I suspect, it is "Susan" then she won't have one, but let's not open that particular MAGA can of worms!
