Removing objects blocking the street .

On the local high street there are numerous shops , the pavement outside is six paving slabs wide , plenty of space to walk .

One shop has a food stall permanently parked outside and is never is use , that takes up four pavement slabs .

They they also have a large advertising banner from roof to floor attached to the food stall, which takes up another  pavement slab.

So you have to squeeze by to get past .

The banner is attached to hinges and so I closed it every time I walked past and it was usually open again when I went past next time .

The food stall and banner are there just for a land grab and the outside pavement has become part of the shop .

I got so fed up with squeezing around the banner and moving it open to get past , that one night walking past I just removed the banner and took it home.

Walked past the shop today and sat in a restaurant next door .

The Woman and her Husband furiously came barging into the restaurant and showing me a Police report and telling me that I would go to jail .

I told them that the banner was illegally on public space and that the pavement doesn't belong to har and go ahead and call the police whilst I have a feed .

The restaurant owner did actually say that if the Police did come, then he would side with me and explain that they were blocking the path

The Police didn't show up in the end

Is that a made up story? first time you've been in Thailand

Nothing to do with local rules or laws,.

It's about who will give out the largest banknote to the friendly local cops.

Nothing new.....

Well keep it up and sooner or later we'll be reading about you on here about getting some Thai attention. Not Happy Ending type Thai attention. I'm sorry but you must really be stupid. Rule number one: Don't cause trouble with Thais.

There's a Thai guy near Thonglor who puts his food cart on the narrowest section of the sidewalk so people actually have to step onto the road to pass. I just look at him and shake my head. Really no point in saying anything.

It's acts like this which makes the Thai's hate us foreigners.

Thanks from myself and all other good foreigners for making our life living in Thailand more unbearable.

He is an absolute plonker.

Nobody would miss him if he left Thailand and I recommend he does.

We know you're a nice story teller. So I have my doubts this is a real one.

But anyway...amusing🤗

Wow ! I thought I was the only one

who got frustrated with Thai vendors

forcing pedestrians off the sidewalks

because of their lack of respect for others.

Your theft recorded on cctv was a silly way to solve your annoyance and could have landed you in more trouble than you realise.

From personal experience.

Take a vidio of the offending obstruction and show to the townhall authorities.

They will solve thr problem for you.

I think that it was me

It was theft. Plain and simple.

Well intended theft, but still theft.

Thais bear a grudge for a long time.

The offending shop people have lost face - never a good thing.

Good luck on your crusade but be careful.

Good for you. Despite the usual and mostly sensible reaction from expats that we should not entertain engaging with Thais in disputes, albeit seemingly legitimate, one has to applaud people with balls who stand up to selfish and inconsiderate people.
On a related matter, on the infamous Rama2 road near my home with partial road closure due to soon to fall down construction zone, a mechanic shop often fixes trucks in front of his shop blocking one lane leaving only one lane for traffic. He brazenly places orange cones around the truck to seemingly legitimize it. I too have thought about doing or saying something about it but lack the balls of steel you possess. 🙈

Well, there is a difference between a "nice story teller" and a liar.

I didn't use the word liar. But now you use it I will think about it.

You doubted that my "story " was true , i.e , it was made up, a lie .

I took a photo to show that you was wrong
