Canadian Tourist's Warning: Assault and Theft in Pattaya Bars

Featured Replies

Pattaya isn't a safe place to be after dark. If there is no programme to stop the violence, thefts, and robberies carried out on foreigners, Pattaya will be finished as a tourist resort.

Well I think the warnings are probably fine especially in light of the fact that Pattaya is very obviously the crime center of Thailand. The second aspect of this is that there are very rare instances where you should go with a group of women to a strange place. The third thing that comes to mind is whether or not they were ladyboys as they seem to commit a lot of crime against foreigners. The last thing that comes to mind is why would someone carry 15,000 baht cash around with them? It seems like a risky thing to do. I am not downplaying the attack which is dreadful, just saying that it's possible he could have taken greater precautions.

I don't know, a night out with a bit of free spending can easily go through 15k.

I'm a cheap Charlie in general, but if you are going out in Pattaya night life ... well in for a penny, in for a pound.

Rubbish

2 women tried that with me in Vietnam. I immediately went the other way. Astonishing what some people fall for.

going to a makeshift bar + being intoxicated = trouble

What time was it?  2:00 AM?  15,000 Baht on his person?  All leads to trouble.

Total BS.

Just don't  go around pissed up, wearing gold chains and flashing your wallet about.

All will be fine then.

Yes I always take 15k out for a pint or two

I used to, whem I was young. 15,000 is chump change in some clubs. Japanese  and Russians can spend 50,000 without blinking. Good meal and wine is easily 5,000-10,000. Or just a good bottle of wine retails for 2500-5000 baht. The markup in a club can be 100%. Add tips and you can easily hit 15,000.

You came to Thailand cause they wouldnt offer you underage sex at Disneyland. there are tradeoffs.

This post should be removed by the Moderators.. for obvious reasons... Poster should be ashamed of themselves..

I am Canadian and I visited Thailand on 5 separate occasions, one month each time, and I never got robbed, beaten or scammed. But then I visited Cha am  and Chiang Mai, but never Pattaya. Yes, I kept my wits about me and refused the charms of several gals in tandem that promised me delights beyond my wildest imaginations. Thus, my memories of each trip are good.

Wow!  You really know the ins and outs of child sex trafficking.  I’ve never seen someone raise a red flag that high.  You know you just gave a strong suspicion to the forum that you are a P3DO, right?  Why did that sick thought run through your mind?  I don’t think anyone else imagined that this guy came to Thailand in pursit of underage sex.  You assume that is the reason reason why anyone here or anyone ever visited Thailand?

I count myself fortunate in being long out of the game. When I retired to Thailand around 2010, it was magic for the aging American. Bangkok, Pattaya, Udon Thani, etc. all the Thai girls treated me as a boyfriend, looking after me. Sold me on Thai females (yes, of course I knew it was to their financial benefit ... what would one expect?). Seems, as is normal, things have changed which is natural but ... not for the best in this Canadian's experience.

...can be seen being held by 2 of the 3 Ladies ...I half expected to see him with a clown outfit ......but the verbals turned out to be much more funnier !

Lol.....I wouldn't even spend 15k baht (approx. $450 USD) on a 'free spending' night out in NYC, let alone Pattaya, Thailand.

When going to a shady bar and approached by whores.

drinking you may get rolled.

Canadians, known for their politeness.

In a land overwhelmed by words and signs of politeness.

Khap 🙏

How to explain that....

Exactly, dude. The politeness will be those folks' undoing.

It's about time Canada became our 51st state. We'll teach them how to be REAL men instead of the woke liberal sissies they are now.

And Canadian resources are a welcome addition to our economy btw.

Really? Ten drinks, ten lady drinks, some food for two ladies and a threesome isnt 15,000? Maybe down on Beach Road at 3am.

The problem in Pattaya is too much booze. End of story. If you arent a drunken fool, nothing will happen to you there.

Guess you didn't watch the 4 Nations game (or should I say '4 Nations fights', which were occasionally interrupted by some hockey). Yes, Canadians are polite. Until they're not.
As a German colonel said during WWI: "“I don’t care for the English, Scotch, French, Australians or Belgians but damn you Canadians, you take no prisoners and you kill our wounded”.

I suppose it was after the 02:00 bar closing time but what the heck is a "makeshift bar"?

Your so sexy, but your voice is soooo low.  Why is that?  🤔

Yes,I am sure all these people getting into fights and getting beat up are just nice innocent tourists coming here on holiday minding their own business.

And what evidence do you have that in this instance your assumption is correct...did you witness the altercation
