Any idea whether PR holders have to do this? It says “all non-Thai nationals” or something like that but I never had to fill in those arrival cards.

So if I want to hop over to Cambodia ( 20 min. away by car) to buy some cheaper alcohol, I need to do this 3 days in advance? Just to stay 20 min. across the border?

Window is 3 days prior up till day day of entry.

So yes you will do that for a border bounce.

Fill it in any time in the 3 days before you will return.  Easy.

And yet other PR holders have reported they always DID fill in the TM6.  How about doing it in any case, it will take a few minutes and costs nothing.  If you don't need it you'll know for the next time.

Does having PR status make you a Thai national - the answer is no.

Same reason even with PR you are required to obtain a re-entry permit.

PR holders do not get a re-entry permit; they get a non-quota immigrant visa valid for a specified number of return journeys to Thailand. The latest one I have on file is from 1982, and the text and seal may have changed since then but it will still have the heading "non-quota immigrant visa"

According to a good friend who has had PR for many years and exits, reenters Thailand multiple times a year, he has to obtain either a single or multiple entry re-enter permit.

For example, with the current version of the website, if your planned entry date is 5 April 2025, the earliest you could enter the data for your TDAC was 00:01 hours on 02 April.

Thank you. So that's a change that immigration has made since 1982 (apparently the same as the MFA made for visas)

Never been asked for any cash at Immigration in 28 years. Only time, I was ever asked about money was at airline check-in in China (on the way to Thailand), cause they couldn't understand how someone would be admitted without a pre-arranged visa. 😆

And PR holders will also have to pay the 300THB foreigner tax when that is linked to the TDAC in a few months time.

I'm on the annual retirement ext with a multi-reentry visa, I make a trip to Australia for a couple of weeks, 3 days before returning to Thailand I do this TDAC and receive the QR code. Therefore I have notified Thailand that I am entering (returning) on such and such date and will be living at such and such address. 

 

Do I still have to go to immigration within 24 hours to notify them that I've now returned and back at the same address? Or does this TDAC remove the need to do a notification within 24 hours?

The IO will only ask if to see cash if you are from a third world country or they are looking for some reason to deny you entry.  Still best to carry it just in case.

I don't think the TDAC and TM30 are connected, so yes I suspect you will, if your Immigration office requires it.

The TDAC has nothing to do with TM30. 

Currently immigration is requiring a TM30 upon return from abroad.

I always carry 20K THB with me whenever I make a trip to Oz, so I've got that money on me when I fly back in to BKK. I've never once been asked to show it, but there's always a first time, anyway I need Thai cash immediately upon arrival, and 20K is not such a large sum.

Depends on if you stay at a hotel that files a TM30 before arriving at your previously registered address and if your IO are following the new TM30 reporting regulations.
Best to check with your own IO.

and if I stay at a hotel that files a TM30 (which I will do next entry, as I always stay 2-3 nights at a BKK hotel before heading home to Korat) does that change anything?

If you stay at a hotel after arriving that file a TM30, (which changes your registered address) then you will have to file a new TM30 on arrival at your previously registered address in Korat with Korat Immigration.

From numerous releases re DTAC the typical statement is same as this cut/paste from a legal company.

 

"Starting 1 May 2025, all non-Thai nationals entering Thailand by air, land, or sea must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before arrival." 

 

Seems simple to me. Are you a Thai national? Answer No.
