A British drug dealer, Gary Boone, has been sentenced to four years in prison and ordered to pay a hefty £426,000 after being caught with cocaine on the M6 motorway in Cheshire. The 62-year-old from Bridgwater was apprehended by police in July 2023, driving a suspicious vehicle that led to the discovery of drugs and cash in his possession.

Following a tip-off from Merseyside Police, Cheshire officers tracked Boone’s grey Mazda CX-5 near Knutsford. Inside, they found a sack and a sandwich bag containing high-grade cocaine worth up to £50,000, along with cannabis and a mobile phone.

After pleading guilty to drug possession with intent to supply, Boone faced sentencing at Chester Crown Court in September 2023. However, the case took a significant turn when the Cheshire Police’s economic crime unit delved into his finances under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Investigators unearthed over £150,000 hidden in a Bangkok bank account and additional assets, bringing Boone’s illicit gains to more than £380,000. Consequently, Chester Crown Court imposed a £425,169.10 confiscation order on Tuesday, April 7.

Financial Investigator Kirsten Jones, who led the probe, emphasised the operation's success in recovering Boone’s crime-derived assets. She stated that Boone will have this substantial financial penalty looming over him indefinitely unless he pays.

Detective Sergeant Keeley Powles commended the team’s meticulous work: “The exceptional investigation has enabled us to reclaim £179,490 of assets immediately. We remain committed to disrupting those who peddle drugs and profiting from crime by recovering funds stolen from society.”, reported The Thaiger.

Hopefully the Thais and Bangkok bank do not hand over the money to the Brits.

These are not funds stolen from society.

Kind of reminds me of the late Mom Boucher from Quebec.

Obviously this chap didn't grease the right palms.

But the business acumen... genius!

Yes. It needs to be equally shared amongst the needed and starving police society.   Or do you think that money will be used to help the homeless or disabled?

Being an expat Forum, I expect that everyone here will dismiss this as nonsense, but it is relevant. When we die, we have a life review, and we see, feel, and hear the consequences of every action in our lives, good and bad. This drug dealer will see, feel, and hear the consequences of his activities on the lives of every one of his direct and indirect customers. Then, he will experience the same for the first ripple effect (families, etc.), then the second ripple, and so on. Imagine how his soul will feel!  ... Before you mock this as mumbo jumbo explore the research and collections of Near-Death Experiences first. We will all have to review our life at death.

No , the guy didn't sell the drugs in Thailand, no crime here , stay off the money and keep it in his account for him,

if he survives his jail time in the UK.

There was a demand for his product , he didn't force anyone to buy it.

The ones buying it , may have ruined their and maybe others' lives.

… partied like there was no tomorrow and are happy as hell to have made his acquaintance.   Why are so many people down on drugs???   They are fun, usually much more so than alcohol.

He should look back with pride at how many people had fun using the products he was able to get for them.

And yes, your comment was nonsense as there is no soul.  We have consciousness but that isn't a soul.  As soon as the electrical activity in our body ceases then so does our consciousness, there is no afterlife.

This guy was dealing in the UK.

60% of all burglaries in the UK are committed to obtain money for drugs which is then passed on to the dealers.

It doesn't sound like 'fun' for the tenant or householder to discover they have been burgled.

It doesn't sound like 'fun' to be so desperate for cash for drugs that you go out and steal creating misery for others and inevitably at some point landing yourself in prison.

I could go on.

On the other hand they might have just enjoyed the drugs and had great lives.

True , but if it wasn't illegal , prices would not be so high.

And burglary are not just for money for drugs.

Same place that the 4xxk and the 9 quid came from.

They don't have to (and wouldn't be asked to), it is the convicted dealer that has to arrange that.

Not a chance, the UK legal system has no power over Thai banks.   Boone will have the responsibility of doing that or facing further prison time.

I think the brits are certainly going after the money here in Thailand.

So the same blackmail as they do to "criminals" that have crypto's.

If he doesn't pay it to the UK authorities he'll just get more jail time so he won't be able to utilise it.
