What starts on those dates?

How you been following this thread Andrew? The topic of this thread starts on May 1, every foreign person entering Thailand from May 1 has to do the TDAC. I sure wouldn't want to be anywhere near Swampy on May 1. 😂

  • I predict 1/2 the current tourists will just go to Vietnam instead! They also have digital arrival, but you can fill it in after you land. Brits get 45 days visa waiver on arrival. And

  • Yeah right.

I wonder what will happen if the visit to Thailand is an emergency and within the three days?

I suspect that the real requirement is that it must be submitted not more than 3 days before arrival (same as Singapore, which includes a health declaration, so the 3-day maximum makes sense).

I'm leaving my next trip for at least a month after this starts so they can iron out all the glitches.

Same with me, I'm actually flying to Oz on May 7, and returning around end of June, so the TDAC (if it's still going, which I think it will be) would have been in service for best part of 2 months, so I reckon they would have sorted out the issues by then.

If you're worried about a visa number use your re entry number. But they say Thailand will be added, if not it's not going to be any issue.

I'm not worried about anything, the form as it is configured now is obviously designed for tourists and not expats resident in Thailand. Probably designed by some highly educated person who just happened to forget about all the expats resident here with extensions based on work, marriage or retirement.

You cannot get a long term extension without having a visa.

Short term extensions such as visa exempt wouldn't change your residence.

Your visa expires after 1 year, then its 1 year extensions of stay. I haven't had a visa since 2004.

Which countrty are you from ?

45-day visa exemption is granted to citizens of 13 countries: South Korea, Japan, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Belarus

Uk.

I'm down for this. Anyone who lives in Thailand and travels frequently watches their passport pages fill up pretty quickly. If I don't need to stamp exit and entry into my passport - that's a complete win.

Exit yes, entry no.

Indeed….  I often have travel at less than 12 hours notice… or have to change plans last min..,

…. Kind of makes this 3 day requirement somewhat tricky.

Yes, that would suck if true.

Appears to be a poor translation, and the digital card MAY be submitted UP TO 3 days in advance.  Doesn't mean it can't be done on arrival.

Oh my god ANOTHER pitfall! I can just see HALF of the people at airline checkins ARGUING WITH STAFF about why they cant fly to thailand that day and have to reschedule! Millions don't KNOW ABOUT THIS!

Why wouldn't they be able to check in?  The digital 'Arrival' card can be completed on arrival in Thailand!

You mean like the old days, filling in the card standing in line? Just with a hand phone?

If that's the case, I hope they triple up on the AIS and True kiosks upstream of immigration so tourists can buy a Thai SIM before they stand in the immigration queue.

There's lot of potential pitfalls, but I doubt any of them are deal killers.

They already cleared up my first concern where the site was blocked here in China.  It works fine now.  (I suspect that ferreting out issues like mine and others is the reason they put up the website before May 1)

Does this apply to visa holders?

We are usually on an "extension to stay" not a visa.Hahahaha.I've always wanted to be the first to say this pathetic, petty comment.

Free WiFi at the airports.

I'm not so sure.  I recall having to enter my Thai phone number to access a lot of the "free wifi".  In any case, it's pretty convoluted for the average noob tourist.

I'd hate to be flying into Swampy or DM on May 1,2,3. It's gonna be pandemonium, not everybody lives online and has heard about the TDAC, plus there are all those Chinese, Koreans, Russians and so forth who can't read or write English, so it stands to reason they'll be thousands of such arrivals who haven't done their TDAC online and not knowing what's going on and what to do. How can the Thais have sufficient numbers of staff ready to assist all these incoming travelers? Any AN members planning on flying in early May make sure you have this damn thing done online so you can get outta the airports fast. It's going to be fun seeing the vids people will post online of their arrivals in Thailand around May 1,2,3.

I think when booking your flight it will be mentioned. Have you filled in your Digital TM6 ? with the address Mail.

As I recall, this was where I got tripped up.  They wouldn't accept my US phone number.  I think the number had to start with +66.  And I didn't fly in with a Thai SIM at that time.  But that was over a year ago and today I have a Thai SIM.  And my brain has leaked since then, every time I sleep.

Of course you have, visas don't disappear.

A SE visa is annotated "used" the day you enter the country and will remain on your travel  history for evermore. A ME visa would  be annotated "used" on expiry.

The form TM47 requires you put the last visa number used to enter the country.

Of course you may well use an office that does not insist on the visa numbers.

As I've stated above, they required me to enter a phone number that started with +66.  Which I didn't have at that time.  To be fair, I probably didn't try every one of the half dozen (or more) options.  I'm just not that bound and determined to get free wifi.

Enter fake name, fake passport number...why make yourself known if you want to use the internet at the airport!
That works too, for years.😚

Singapore has a similar scheme..once you submitted your arrival details they will email you confirmation..

When you landed in Singapore you just go through the e-gates...you don't have to show QR code or Q up for immigration..

That is Singapore and that is why it is needed there.

Foreigners will still need to queue up and see an immigration official for an entry stamp on arrival in Thailand.

You're talking rubbish, if you are granted a 12 months visa then that visa is valid for 12 months from date of entry then it expires 12 months after that date. After that it is invalid and has no validity.

TM.47 has no requirement for visa number only arrival card number.

You are free to believe what you want.

It would be helpful If you could tell the forum where they can get a visa that would allow an entry of 12 months.

One minute before immigration in fact - they have already said there will be provision on arrival for those that didn't already complete it.

So the real headline should be "Thailand introduces optional early digital arrival card submission"

Completing the TDAC is not optional.  It has to be completed at some time within 3 days before arrival at the Passport Control desk at the airport/land border in Thailand.

Hopefully they will make the completion on arrival very time consuming, should soon dissuade those not willing/capable of doing it earlier.
