Everyone who has done that believe they are capable of driving a vehicle whilst the number of road deaths by drunk drives says the opposite

Not quite, only 25% on average.

Speed is the big killer, I am very unlikely to be killed in a car crash doing 50kmh or less.

Do you have double vision when drunk?

Classic example of somebody who should never drunk drive.

Another idiotic comment: Everyone is an example of someone who shouldn’t drink  and drive !!!

Dumb trolling baiting attempt ignored.

Of course it is true.

Someone who is reckless and speeds and shows off when drunk driving is a worse driver than somebody obeying all road rules and driving sensibly.
It is just argumentative to claim otherwise.

He’s using the number from a poll he made up on this forum - questions were very flawed in their wording to proved a loaded result…

Actually using his own poll results as some sort of ‘valid statistic’ highlight s the extreme level of stupidity of someone who thinks they are ‘fine drink driving, because they are careful when drunk”..,

A grade A1 example of stupidity at its highest level…

When a speed camera fine for getting flashed at 268kph drunk or sober is only 500 baht, 3 helmetless kids on motor bike is normal, 90% of rural motorbikes and 10% or cars having no taillights at night is accepted as normal, nothing is ever going change.

killed in traffic accidents in 2021, 25% (294) died in drunk driving crashes.

Among vehicle occupants, only 18% of deaths occur on roads with speed limits under 40 mph

Fair enough...  you are not a drink driver.

Stupid... as dumb as drink driving.

Doubtful you have any, which is why you don't drink - its a social activity, getting stoned is for loners.

It would be interesting to know what such a verminous character is like in real life...

There's a minute possibility that you might actually be a semi-resonable person in person and your persona on this forum is just a deliberate vapid troll for some perverse kicks.

I admire your consistency, but believe that to be tied to genuine character flaws.

Perhaps BJ71 will pick you up on the offer - you both seem well aligned.

During the New Year holiday period from December 27, 2024, to January 5, 2025, there were 2,467 road accidents resulting in 436 deaths and 2,376 injuries. Speeding was identified as the leading cause of these accidents, accounting for 38.9% of the total, followed by drunk driving at 31.6%

https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2931765/road-deaths-reach-272-after-6-dangerous-days?utm_source=chatgpt.com

During the 2018 Songkran festival, drunk driving accounted for 42% of road accidents.

https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/30343266?utm_source=chatgpt.com

During the 2023 Songkran festival, speeding was responsible for 36.67% of accidents.

https://www.rvp.co.th/newsdetail_en_313.php?utm_source=chatgpt.com

So... You are quite right - for the most part, speed itself kills more than drink driving alone...

But, the manner in which you isolate speed as a killer while suggesting drink driving is not as serious because "you drive carefully" highlights an extreme level of stupidity, carelessness and outright selfishness.

Low speed collisions with cyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists at speeds as low as 30 km/h (around 19 mph) are often fatal - and thats ignoring the life changing injuries that can be caused.

Your lack of acceptance of these basic facts further highlights your mental flaws.

- A fat 100kg male (Malky)

- 12 beers (330ml, 5% ABV)

- 4 hour timeframe (from first to last beer)

- Widmark formula: est BAC of 0.169% / 3.38 times higher than the Thai legal limit.

- It would take 8 hours to get back below the legal driving limit.

I'm not accusing Malky of being a 'cadbury' (whatever that is)...

- he's clearly a hard-man who can knock men out in a single punch so that they stay down, he never walks away from a fight, but is polite and respectful to all those around him and never has a problem with Thai's though would sort out a foreigner if they were impolite to a Thai in his presence....   such a polite bogan can clearly handle his beer and believes it has no impact on him...

No idea, though somewhere between I suspect.

Also, I question the accuracy of the DUI stats as not everyone is tested. Are the deceased tested for alcohol ?

Malcy's point is not invalid - speeding is certainly an issue, but his deflection to suggest speed is solely the issue, or its only the drink drivers who speed who are an issue simply outs his delusional stupidity.

Which is why I am very careful crossing the road and stay off bikes, way too dangerous in Thailand.

80% of deaths in Thailand are on motorbikes. I believe you ride. Whether you like it or not you are a lot more likely to die on Thailands roads than me.

Maybe you should have a good hard look in the mirror before criticizing me all the time.

Agreed - we have to watch out for the drunk drivers who fail to see us.

When / if you hit a pedestrian or motorcyclist while drunk driving, it will be because they were not careful enough when you are nearby, right ?  :whistling:

I agree...   I'm at greater risk when riding (I drive and ride)....  and I'm at even greater risk if I ride a night, because of selfish ayhole drink drivers !!! (which is one of the reasons I won't ride at night).

Just now, MalcolmB said:

I should take a good hard look in the mirror because I drive and ride legally and criticise you for your self-centred selfishness in putting other road users in mortal danger because you lack the consideration and self control not to drink and drive....

The attempted deflection is completely idiotic - you really didn't think that one through, again, highlighting your mental flaws.

That's not enough. Lock them in the morgue for a few hours and turn the lights off. Play ghostly sounds. They won't drink and drive ever again.

With a couple of spliffs for an extra rush.
