I also think that cannabis tourism has played a significant role in attracting more lower quality and culturally disrespectful tourists with an "anything goes in Thailand" mentality.

100% this. Scummy people who wouldn't have even considered Thailand in the past are now thinking if cannabis is allowed, Thailand must be somewhere I can get away with anything, let's go!

Arrest him, try him, and if found guilty, jail him. After his jail sentence has been completed, deport him. 😡

Bystanders, both Thai nationals and other foreigners, then joined in, delivering additional blows as the man lay stunned on the ground.

Typical

Matters escalated when the disruptive foreigner began challenging people to a Muay Thai fight, further taunting the guards and patrons. It was at this point that one of the bouncers lost patience and delivered a single punch to the man’s face, knocking him off his feet.

This is what they wait for, did anyone call the police, no, just deck him and cause possible brain damage or death, for what, a guy acting stupid, that's what you call the cops for, but then again, I suppose some people's Ego's are bigger than mine.

Let's be honest guys, where else would you see such primitive behaviour?

Imagine that happening in a western country?

Random waitresses, bar staff, security, random bystanders, passersby, some taxi drivers perhaps, or whoever etc. etc. all coming out of the woodwork together for a good auld head kicking on someone who really posed no actual threat to anyone - especially once he was put down with the first punch - but he was all bark and no bite anyway throughout the whole video.

Things like that happen in prison, gang culture, or football hooligan culture in the West......but for ordinary civilians to do this?? 😆 🤣 😂

It's wild!

Ordinary civilians? This is Soi 6. Part brothel, part cage match, part bar.

For the farang it was the worst day of his life. For the Thais on Soi 6 it was just another Tuesday night.

Strange that all the security staff removed their "security" jackets before they got stuck in!

Probably didn't want to get blood on them.  The bar will likely charge them for the dry-cleaning.

Well said. It's the Amsterdam/Las Vegas/Cancun effect. I wasn't trying to suggest that cannabis makes people more aggressive, but I am saying that when cannabis becomes part of the allure of coming to Thailand, it starts attracting people who have less respect for the culture, and who see Thailand merely as a party destination where anything goes.

yea, the guy was drunk and in the wrong, but professional door staff will never get into unnecessary street brawls with members of the public, however much they are provoked.

I have enjoyed at least 25 Songkran over the past 40 years, in Pattaya, Phuket or down at Khao San Road, but no more. Too many idiots are screwing up the holidays nowadays. It was never like this before (or I'm getting too old).

i would like to maker a formal complaint - that security officer who kicked in the head when the foreigner was on the floor should be imprisoned for attempted murder .absolutely disgusting that anyone would employ someone like this .if there is no police action expect a few tourist deaths like this every year becuase right now thais dont see anything wrong with this behaviour - so it is bound to be repeated

Just when you thought you couldn't get a bigger idiot, along comes this guy...

Hopefully, this schooling would have changed his behaviour moving forward.

Exactly, my fighting days are over but back in my younger days I learned to read body language and to size someone up, never saw any sense in getting into a scrap if I was going to get minced. If the odds looked stacked against me I backed away.

Can't fix stupid being p1$$ed out of your head and challenging a Thai doormen to a Muay Thai fight, only going to end one way good enough for him hope he got a good kicking.

Dancing about purporting to have fighting prowess - only to be floored by the most telegraphed right hand I've seen in years

(Seriously - they should all still be kicking him).

The whole city is a brothel, filled with scammers, and ladyboys who rob people, security guards with brains of an ostrich and a policeforce  who is always nowhere to be seen...and in Thailand Thais can do as they want, but always blame others.. Indeed the man was intoxicated but still no reason to beat him like this. It looks like Wild wild west

The foreigner was an idiot of course. Certainly deserved to be ejected from the bar.

Having done that, I’m not so sure that the bouncers had a remit to follow him out into the street. Simply stopping him re entering should seem to be their main mandate.

As for the people who jumped him once he was on the ground, they deserve to be done for assault. Most came from bars across the street so the whole thing was nothing to do with them.

Summery, a poor advert for Thai tourism all round. From scantily clad girls on the street, drunk idiotic foreigners, over aggressive bouncers and mob violence.

Other than that, what’s not to like 🤷‍♂️

go ahead and be in denial that bars in general along with girlie bars doesn't attract lower quality individuals.

this is taking place right on soi 6 in front of a bar.

Yet, by some miracle, 99.9% manage to go there and leave without commiting some degree of assault.

Whoever the clowns jumping out and trying to keep the mob away from him (and, unfortunately, succeeding) when he was down should've joined him on the ground. If you don't send a clear and direct message at every opportunity you lose the advantage (in this case being the "advantage" of having compliant patrons not out to cause such occurrences).
