How much and why has his death affected you?

Me, being an Atheist, not one bit.

Then why create a new thread about it if it does not affect you one bit?

  • For you maybe. There are over 17.7 billion Catholics worldwide who may disagree.   I am one of them, I believe he laboured to make the world a better place.

  • Likewise.  It's barely newsworthy.

Just interested in other member's feelings about him. OK?

No celeb deaths do.

Agree, not for the likes of me and you, but millions across the whole World will be in mourning for weeks, for a regime which has caused so much trouble and garnered so much money from the poor believers.

The believers choose to donate.

I usually listen to Talk Radio today but I'll avoid it as there will be blanket coverage, always over the top when someone significant dies

All jobs require money, to pay for those that help others in some way. Yes, the Catholic church is a very wealthy commodity and it's one reason I just became a Christian after I started out raised as a Catholic. Some things done are unnecessary. I pray to God and Jesus, not other people. Giving people hope where they might have none causing trouble. That some misuse religions is their deal and not most believers. I won't mourn him, but it's sad that anyone who spreads peace and love has to die, even though everyone does eventually. Giving people hope and having them treat others well is a part of that job, and a worthy part, as peace is the opposite of wars. Many mourn people who have done very little and still celebrate their birthdays, those who were also rich.

Not personally impacted.

I would have been happy for him to stay as Pope for much longer.

He was my favorite Pope in my lifetime.

I'll be curious to watch the traditional pick a Pope ritual they will go through but have low expectations that the new guy will be an improvement.

Are Catholics not just another flavour of Christian?

All Christians but Catholics believe in praying to saints. I feel it's not necessary.

No need for belief. There should be facts about what he did.

No man is an island and all that.....but hand on heart....couldn't give a monkey's......how many children died today? I'd shed a tear for them.

He was the first Pope from the Americas. That was cool. Being from Buenos Aires, even cooler.

Then avoid the topic.

My mistake, sorry.17.7% of the worlds population - so about 1.4 billion.

Being a cynical so and so, whenever religion is the topic, and people rush to declare as atheist, I am always reminded of this:

ds8rmrwxwmv51.png.7169f8efe98c45f2ab1720631ddd2bff.png

pneumonia is the consequence of severed immune system. I don't want to name all those celebs whose death cause was announced "pneumonia" as it might sounds blasphemous.
Move on:
Dual pneumonia means upper and lower parts of lungs damaged.

Well, from COVID-19 experience we learnt that there are ways to oxygenate blood even without working lungs. Temporarily.

To make it short: Eminence had something more sinister with his health and that's why they rush to put him into the coffin and end the story.

I won't buy that the wealthiest Vatican could not heal the Pope from puny pneumonia. There is some really scary story behind.

Rest In Peace, Your Eminence

PS: look at his meeting with JD Vence. He was completely immobilized and bloated. Pneumonia?

Seemed like a mean ol bisturd same as the previous Rat one.

Only good pope is a dead one.

died of covid?

the vaccine finished him off maybe?

who will be his successor?

the previous pope was moving priests around after they were charged with you know what.

not even sure what this guy did.

I can imagine him thinking "This guy is a world leader?" and just giving up.
