As the motive was not robbery , that leaves Money dispute , Woman , or drugs ,

the victim ,I think must know the attacker, should not take the police long to find

him ,unless he has crossed the border already.

  • the poster you replied to made a perfectly reasonable comment, but as usual you've twisted to Thai bashing .

I've worked, studied, travelled to over 40 countries, Thailand is the safest by FAR.   Thailand has been home for me and my large family, I've lived here over 20 years, never had a problem.

As correctly pointed out by many on this forum, this has nothing to do with the safety of living in Thailand. This appers to be the  case of two uneducated foreign thugs of which one decides to take the law into his own hands. Do I care about the 34 year old injured foriegner? Not really ...  if he was back in his home country earning an honest living this would never have happened.  Unfortunately this reflects very poorly on us law abiding long term expats who are living off their savings from hard work. Would not surprise me if these two thugs are living off some kind of  social assistance scam.

There are altogether too many stories lately about foreigners being involved in some kind of violent altercation. Sad situation and I wonder if the 60 day visa exempt has anything to do with this.

Involving foreigners

Pattaya has been in the news headlines a lot lately for not good reasons considering its a top quality tourist destination according to TAT

Tourist Authority of Thailand

Right, because it's not like a Thai might be able to read the Thai characters on a number plate. Need a foreigner for that. Fool.

When did I say that?

You don't think 30 days is long enough to do some violence?

Buy yourself a dictionary and look up the word " insinuate" nowhere in that post did he say a Thai was involved.

No, that´s right, and neither did I. What I said was basically that the only thing he found from two crazy Irish men fighting and stabbing, was it a Thai person had done his duty.

Like to know what he did, he p*ssed someone off.

Lots of troublemaking foreigners arriving.

Thailand has a special way with dealing with troublemakers.

Anyway, probably road rage, 2 idiots.

Being a married man means that you're less likely to be out 'gallivanting' at 01:35 in the morning? (Maybe/maybe not).

This attack seems to be very 'random', and being attacked for no reason seems incredibly rare there, but it's best not to speculate, although I agree with what you say, he's probably p-----d someone off.

You left out the YABA crazed dude with a machete and a grudge against all foreigners.  I'm not saying that's what it was, but it does happen.

The attacker was also a Farang , more likely a personal reason for the attack .

Those condos are all fairly new, surely they must have CCTV outside the entrances; or was it 'not working', as is often the case sadly?

It could hardly be an impersonal reason for the attack!

I don't think Thailand was ever considered a safe place for foreign tourists.

The Brit FO report I read suggested a Brit on holiday in Thailand was 20x more likely to die than in any other country.

Comparing Brits dying in Thailand and Spain ..........

2016 Brit deaths  in Thailand 374 out of 400,000 Brit visitors (1 in 1,000)

2016 Brit deaths in Spain 697 out of 13,000,000 Brit visitors (1 in 18,000)

So actually 18x more likely to die in Thailand

Many years ago the Australian authorities stated that more Australians die in Thailand every year than in any other overseas destination.

Please don´t talk about small cookies like that. I take the whole cake. Live with it!

I completely agree it's one of the safest places I've ever been and I never fear for my safety in Thailand. The vast majority of the violence is Thai on Thai, and it's usually young punks, or related to drugs and other criminal activity.

I've been here for 20 years and never actually seen a fight, despite living in a tourist area! I would also say that in my home town in the UK I could see a fight in the City Centre every weekend!

Read it in an Irish accent, will make perfect sense 👍
