This is the best deal under the cicumstances. Ukraine should reiburse the countries who have spent billions To curtail the Russian advance.

American presence will deter future Russian invasion..

Well done Trump.

The concept of giving the United States a stake in Ukraine’s minerals was first proposed to Mr. Trump by Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, during a meeting at Trump Tower last September.

What really matters is that the Ukrainian people expel the invaders and receive justice for the crimes committed against their country. That the US is hovering around like a looter outside a burning b

  • I support the $50 million in aid, but not requiring Ukraine pay us (the USA) back for that with their minerals. We should be providing the aid without any conditions. 😞

  • Ukraine is in massive debt to the US. This is the least they could do

More of a swap. Military aid for rare earth minerals.

Trump got outsmarted by Zelensky. He got immediate military aid while the rare earth is a questionable possibility that may or may not be fulfilled in an unknown future.

Really? and why is that? If Ukraine has something to barter they should barter. BTW, how many hard working american and european tax dollars have been skimmed off the top by ukrainian officials?

We should provide the aid without any conditions because that is the right thing to do. It shows our empathy (wokeness). If Ukraine has been misusing the aid we give, that is another story, but even in that case, we should not stop the aid—unless we think it is okay that Russia uses its military force to take over a sovereign country.

Sure. Outsmarted by Zelensky. Outsmarted by Putin. What you fail to admit is Trump can pull the plug on Zelensky. This is also just the 1st installment of money for defence related equipment through DCS. Zelensky buy these systems commercially through the US with rare earth mineral guarantees as part of the deal. Can you explain how Zelensky has "outsmarted" Trump with this.

The payoff is a very long way off in the future.  Only time will tell if it even gets to that, anyways.

50 million? An infamous Deutsche Bank CEO once called this sum "peanuts".

Less than one F18 jet falling from a carrier.

Agreed.

It's very small relative to what's needed, but at this point given how much of a Putin licker Trump has been, it can be seen as a symbolic baby step in the right direction.

Zelensky got the security guarantee. No payoff if Russia occupy Ukraine. Trump has got the agreement to gloat and nothing else nor bother.

Jets are not needed (AWACS being an exception). Artillery pieces, shells and air defence systems are way more useful. This deal also means there will be a US presence in Ukraine.

In a way the US presence is needed simply because Russia has added a N. Korean and Chinese presence (albeit undercover)

Chinese? North Koreans yes but mainly they'd be with their artillery systems.

Utter drivel. The USA has, over many years, including during this Presidency and Trump's previous term of office, supported Ukraine with non-stop aid notwithstanding a high amount of corruption within the Ukrainian govt system. Ukraine is now massively in debt to the USA, and many other countries. In this context the new minerals agreement with the USA  makes sense as it adds weight to the USA's ongoing  commitment to the well-being of Ukraine. You really need to know what you're talking about before going into print.

Maybe the Russian money that is frozen in overseas banks ,they use

that to compensate Ukraine for all the damage the Russians have done

as the aggressor to Ukraine

OK... I need a million dollars for my wife's buffalo that just died. Money grows on trees and no one is accountable right?  You woke much?

Maybe Trump doesn't know that most of the minerals are in Russia's occupied areas?

So the agreement is just paper (for the toilet).

Ridiculous leadership 😂

And Trump has not done his homework, minerals, rare earth's  ect , yes Ukraine has lots  , like lots of  other countries. but it is the processes of these minerals, and rare earth's so they can be used in manufacturing is the difficult part, and it is China that processes 90% of the worlds rare earths exports them .

I would say Zelensky knows that ,and someone must have told Trump ,or is Trump saying no problem we can do the processing  our self's , just go and build all the

plants.

Well, in Putin's land?

Unlikely to happen.

At present all deals with Ukraine except weapons are useless or senseless.

What do you think?

If you live in a country with a capitalist economy or a plutocracy (like my home country, the USA), you'll have to earn money by working for a wealthy person or business. 😞If you lived in a country with a socialist economy, you would probably be able to get some kind of help for your wife since her buffalo died, assuming she needed help. You wouldn't get any money because money is not part of a socialist economy. Your wife would, if she qualified, get free consultation services - or maybe even a new, baby buffalo! 😮

No, money does not grow on trees, but if you are an immigrant, you should be able to get a job as a fruit picker, and then you might be able to say that money does grow on trees. Of course, if you're not an immigrant, you wouldn't consider getting a job as a fruit picker, so you'd be out of luck on that. 😐

No, in my home country (USA), many people are accountable. All the poor and working-class people are accountable. The wealthy are not accountable, and the wealthier you are, the less accountable you are. 😞

Yes, I am very "woke," and have been so for around 50 years. 😉

I have noticed that the tide has receded a lot lately. It could be a sign of a tsunami of wokeness, and I certainly hope so. In any event, no matter what the public viewpoint is now or becomes, my wokeness will not change.
