touché 👍 Nailed it.    I've been living in the same house over 20 years, back in the day it was RARE to find a nutter, these days most foreigners are aggressive, hostile fruitcakes.

I talk with farang and Thais every day. I don't go looking for either of them. Frankly, the more people I speak with, the more I like my dog. And I don't even have a dog.

  • My God! What a fantastic topic. I wonder where all are this time, to point out that people are trash talking foreigners? I mean, as soon as I point out ne that has done something stupid or behaved bad

Good luck with that one ... :cheesy:

They're either suffering from Trump derangement syndrome, or not so closeted KKK members.   Or like myself, buying more tin foil at Makro.  You can never have enough protection :coffee1:

White Power is more my thing but Trump and the KKK go good too.

I've got a few very good close foreigner friends, I don't need or want any more.

The trick is, if you find a normal one hang on to him.

This got 4 negative reponses, says alot about the forum, and who they are

My type of neighbour.

I rarely talk to Thais either  - unless they are serving staff.

I disagree...the negative responses say a lot about the perception of the aforementioned.

Thank you for telling me. I have a 13 year old and a 6 year old. Both girls, so I am aware of when the schools start and stop. Now back to your not "just" a sexual or money thing.

Oh dear! Where to begin???? "just", must mean that sex is a bit on the table anyway. After that, it seems money oriented as you helped with books, uniforms and so on for 5 of their kids. Or, did you get that for free? They got you hooked, always ready to be reeled in. They have made you live in the belief that they really care about you. They are professionals in that area. It just reminds me about the many stories of the 1 or 2 week tourist. He comes, meet a girl and hook up for all the time he is here. Before go home, they change online messenger accounts and phone numbers. When home, can´t stop think, talk almost everyday until he believes he is the one and only. Start helping and sending money. Only thing is that the girl are that friendly to 15 more foreigners, who also believe they are the one. It´s their work to be your best friend with extra benefits.

Most Germans are.

Foreigners that I would prefer to avoid...

The ones who are aggressive and hostile whilst suggesting that foreigners are aggressive and hostile.. 😊

The ones who whinge and complain about foreigners whinging and complaining.....

The ones who abuse the Report function to the point where they are told to not use it anymore...

The ones who complain about other foreigners...

Last June when helping a black guy from the USA out at immigration. He was clueless trying to get an extension on his 30 day visa. They told him he needed not just a TM30 but the hotel receipt. Mrs helped him mostly, over an hour calling the hotel for the receipt they refused to send him, getting that printed, photocopies and filling out his forms. Said he would be in touch, we never heard from him again. This is typical after helping visitors out here, I avoid the buggers now.

If honestly, that's something that I noted from Americans. Superficiality. Don't take it personally.

If you saw valid points I feel sorry for you, along with your comment that 50% of foreigners are hermits, which is ridiculous, as you see them out every day, and the bar patronage seems to have a lot of them socializing. And the other 50% are nutters? What makes a nutter and how many do you personally know, as 50% is a pretty high amount of the foreigners that live here? I don't get out much, spending my free time with my girlfriend or taking care of my daughter, but I have a group of friends here that hit bars every week, a few times, and what they say to me has them saying there's quite a few of their friends that do the same, which means they aren't hermits. I'm guessing you then think they're the 50% nutters? In all my life I've known hundreds of weed smokers, including yours truly, and have never met any that were mad. A little out there but amicable and safe. I have met a few who did meth that were really out there to me, and proved it later.

Nr 1 You need to be a nutter in the first place moving to Thailand, especially if it leaves you with no possibility of return back to your orign country. Those who understand, knows what I say, those who don't, will hopefully never know my reasons

If you add house in wife's name, car, motorbike, and only surviving on monthly transfer from givernment pension found. Good luck

I know how you feel. I took a Czech couple I met in Australia all around the Golden Triangle, they never paid for anything, or offered to.

They spoiled it for anyone else I might have thought of helping.

Asking those who live in Thailand....

The last time that I spoke with a 'farang' was about 4 weeks ago when I said 'thank-you' to a young Russian guy who held the lift for me in my Jomtien condo building.  I don't go out of my way to socialise with foreigners in Thailand because most seem to be pot-heads, 'hidden' nutters (who seem quite sociable at first, but then reveal themselves as totally mad), or those many grumpy old men who seem to be suffering from dementia.

Otherwise, I seem only to interact with Thais 🙂on a daily basis.  None seem to be pot-heads, the nutters are quite vocal and easily avoided, and I always get a smile from the old folk when I give them a cheery 'sawadee kap'.

How about you.  Do you live in a farang bubble?  Or a Thai bubble for that matter?

Oh here we go again, another enlightened armchair farang expert broadcasting from his ivory condo tower in the hi-so end of Jomtien, sipping Singha out of paper cups and diagnosing every other farang who doesn’t drink as heavily as him with either having dementia or a dope addiction. Thanks for the public service announcement, Dr Freud of the Lift Lobby.

Last time I spoke to a farang, it was Bob again on Soi 6. He was trying to flog me a used toasty maker and ranting about how the embassy put a tracking chip in the amulet he wears round his neck. Totally normal Tuesday. Before that, it was a Swiss bloke who only speaks in proverbs and sells herbal bung lube out the back of his pickup.

As for Thais, yeah they smile, but probably because they’re filming me for a TikTok called “Farang Falls for It Again.” But I don’t mind. I give a solid sawadee kap, make a wai like a drunk flamingo, and carry on with my life.

And look, no offence, but if the highlight of your farang social life is mumbling “thank you” to a Russian bloke in the lift, maybe the problem isn’t the rest of us. But hey, enjoy your bubble. Just don’t be surprised when it bursts and you realize the grumpy old man with dementia might’ve been staring back at you in the mirror.

Biggest real conversations we have is as we drive 35km to Lotus or Makro.

Other times she is out and about, and I am in home. Usually a chat at tea time.

Lived with sex workers and other service workers in Patong, and this is true for most girls who date foreigners in tourist areas. New options comes and goes until some of them meets one who is willing to be responsible and take care. Anyway, it doesnt mean they stop doung what the do, if not together 24/7

Many girls hae side hustle collecting school fees, uniforms, medicstion, language schools, to options is endless

Scandies are dragging the thread off-topic. More foreigners to avoid 🙂

Just joking 😊

My condo is a useful place to store items.  Most of the time, I am 500 metres from this deserted beach in south Thailand.  I rent a detached house for 7k baht/month 🙂

Don't reckon I'm a nutter, just made sense.

I was working offshore Songkhla, on 28 day rotation on/off.

I decided to live in Thailand as it reduced travel time, to and from Oz .

Hell no I don't. I came to Thailand for a number of reasons and one was to get away from the beer guzzling nutters

You can always go home.

Didn't you have other friends than 'beer guzzling nutters'? Strange having to leave a country to avoid them.

Some strange people here 😊

Paragraphs would help.

You seem rather isolated, not necessarily a hermit.

Perhaps if you got out more you would see what I see.

I’ll stand by my 50% nutter assessment unit proven otherwise.

Reading many of the posts on AN certainly doesn’t help.

That is a paragraph. How do I "seem" isolated? Have you lived near me and saw how I live? No, so that's yet another of the many assumptions made on AN. You can have your opinion on how many nutters there are here, but it wouldn't be valid because you have absolutely no idea how many unstable foreigners live here. What does get out more mean? Are you assuming that I stay in my house 24/7? Do you actually think that a 68 year old man who has had 3 wives, 6 kids, and about 100 girlfriends, is a hunter, fisherman and had worked for 45 plus years has never left the house?
