I lived in Bangkok for 5 years. I often used the BTS and sometimes the MRT.  I never saw a policeman on any train or platform.  Who is protecting us? Is anyone doing it?

I can't remember if they have cameras. I would think they do, or should have them. I'm sure the stations have cameras. Can anyone confirm?

The security guards on the platforms with their whistles.

They have CCTV cameras and security at every station   perhaps even undercover security riding the trains ?

Most modern cities have transportation police.  Cameras don't hear the German Iranian born idiots blasting their music.

I rode the BTS withing a few months of its opening. In all my years, I have never seen a cop on a train, or platform.

Exactly.  Bangkok BTS isn't the Brooklyn Subway.  Bangkok doesn't need cops.

Buy your own bat or gun. 😁

It would be a waste of resources, as they simply are not needed.  Violent crime is very rare on public transport in TH: rail & bus services.

Plenty of CCTV everywhere now, and surely more to come.

And yes, I remember the rape & murder on the train, over a decade ago.  Emphasis on very rare.

Those magic whistles are brilliant the crims that they are chasing immediately freeze when they hear it. They have the same magic whistles attached to life jackets so when you ditch in the middle of  oceon you put on the life jacket and blow the whistle to attract attention  and the coastguard is  there to rescue you straight away;

It is a misleading title or don't you see trains out of Bangkok as Bangkok trains. If you wanted to deal with mass transit,say so.

I have travelled on many trains from Bangkok and during ticket inspection there has always been a policeman present. During the journey there are sufficient security guards to deal with anything that may arise.

Of course the nay sayers will go off on a well publicised incident.

As for the mass transit, have regularly seen security guards on the platform. Essential with the behaviour of passengers at the airport station.

There are CCTV cameras on most trains too. (At least on MRT)

I sometimes see security guards, in pairs and with dogs getting on and off the MRT trains. That seems to be enough security.

Oh, and of course we all have to go through metal detectors so there is no chance of anyone carrying weapons on the MRT. 🫢
