I've been using WISE for years.

Never had a problem,

For me the easiest, cheapest and quickest method of moving money.

However, weekends can take longer.

Nothing lost but it is taking considerably longer for Wise to make a transfer.

  • Alarming news. Time to prepare for another method?

That's the same with me and Bangkok Bank. It was really fast for the past couple of months, but now takes a day.

Made a transfer yesterday, Friday and it took maybe 10 minutes so obviously something was and maybe still is not quite right with the system they are now using.

A friend just transferred his monthly pension and received a message to say Monday.

I transferred £50 as a test and it took 6 seconds.

We both transferred from balances held with WISE.

I transferred £250 and it reached its destination in seconds yesterday.

Similar issue. Before it was ok and fast when Kasikorn showed as partner. Now  still waiting 4 days through Tranglo partner. Sum a few thousands bahts.

Tranglo has tracking system and you can use wise partner banking reference for that, from transfer details... At least now i can see that my transfer with ca, 5 days delay has a "pending  withdrawal" status (from yesterday), which as a status is positive, at least hope so...   https://www.tranglo.com/tracking/

..and i got it...

Yesterday's transfer Wise to Krungsri:

Your money got there in just seconds. Now that's what we call maximum ease at full speed.
Need a receipt? You can download it from your Wise account. If not, here's a recap:

Is your partner happy

In the biblical sense? Yes very much so, thanks for your concern.

Mine have been faster than ever. Sending to Krungsri and Bangkok bank.

5 minutes to Krungsri.

same here ..  did my monthly  transaction on Friday took less than 1 minute to recieve .. Kasikorn

I had the same issue with a UK wise transfer to Kbank last week.

After 2 days I contacted Kbank and sent them the PDF receipt and they credited my account a couple of hours later.

I registered an account with WISE yesterday.  I tried a test send of $50.00 USD, using both a debit card and a credit card.   Each time I got an error message of, card not acceptable (or something like that).

I don't know if that has anything to do with the delay in receipt problem that has been posted about.

What Thai Bank? My understanding is recently Wise will no longer transfer to some Thai banks.

A regular SWIFT transfer from the UK to my wife's account with Bangkok bank used to take around 18 hours. The last couple have taken between 3 and 5 days to post.

Wise transfers from the UK to my Bangkok bank account would typically take a few seconds, as their app says it will when configuring the transaction. However, over the past week and depending on what time of day I configure the transaction, the app says either 8 hours or by the following day.

Something appears to have gummed up the works, both Wise and SWIFT with Bangkok bank.

Something to do with this, maybe??

How does this work? Do you enter what is now Wise's 10-digit ref number for this purpose? Or do Tranglo send you their own code to be used instead?

Good point sir. My banking and phone SIM stuff is all compliant from last year but I wonder if my wife's up to speed with this?

Wise transfers to Bangkok bank were similarly quick the last time I did a transfer almost two weeks ago. It said "in seconds" and that's how long it took, as usual.

Any transaction now is either "within 8 hours" or "next day", depending on what time of day it's being set up.

What's tranglo and where does it get in this mix? A quick Google suggests it's for Thai domestic transactions. So, is it acting as the processor for Thai banks that do not have a foreign corresponding bank? Or what?

Yes, I suggest, and it's only a suggestion, Wise transfers are actioned early morning.  I always send transfers to Krungsri via Kbank early morning around 8am.

Have been actioning this for the past several years and transfers have always arrived in seconds.

Good luck.

If Tranglo is shown as a "bank partner" on your Wise transfer confirmation (pdf which you can download from your  transaction details menu), you just enter the "Bank Partner Reference" (from the same pdf) on the relevant Tranglo's tracking page https://www.tranglo.com/tracking/. In my case, this was a 14-character code.

Up until about 10 days ago, regardless of time of day, my Wise transfers to Bangkok bank would be flagged as "should arrive immediately" and they did Now, despite initially displaying as "should arrive immediately", once the transfer is configured and ready to execute, it's either "within 8 hours" or "next day". This former when setting up early in the UK working day, the latter when setting up later in the working day.

I transferred 240 pounds last Friday early am and Wise said will take 8 hours to complete but it did not come in that time . The next day on Saturday am I still did not have it , so I used their tracker and guess what ? it arrived within 5 minutes . I have been using Wise for 10 years or more and always praised their service but over the last couple of months they have slowed down and not so reliable . I am considering using another company . Any recommendations? Anyone use XE.com ?

Some useful info about their activities (which seem to go wider than Thai domestic transactions) in the FAQ's on their website:

https://www.tranglo.com/support/

What might be of possible interest to some is whether or not they offer a service for making transfers from Thai bank accounts to home country accounts given the current issues with Dee Money.

Indeed, I wonder whether this whole registration issue lies at the heart of all the problems identifed in this thread (in which case Wise should clearly not be made the sole scapegoat for them). Although Thai banks are not, I understand, supposed to start rigorous checking for SIM registration compliance until the end of June, it is possible that some (if not all) of them are jumping the gun.

This approach even works for Wise transfers to Bangkok Bank accounts in my experience. I've set up a standing order with my UK bank for transfers to my Wise GBP account, and as soon as I receive confirmation from Wise of my latest transfer (around 8am) I initiate an onward transfer to my Bangkok Bank account which usually turns up there at 14:00 the same day (unless it is a public holiday in LOS, of course).

Do you mean that you gave your passport to an agent and he brought it back with an incorrect visa?   If so was it really necessary to get a new passport? Why not just have the incorrect visa cancelled and get the correct one?  I think I might be missing something here.

It was a “fake” visa!

And I didn't want to go to immigration with it, because they always look very closely at my passport!
What if the official discovers the “fake visa”?
So new passport ... No risk!!!

I initiated a transfer from my balance in my Wise account to my Bangkok bank account yesterday afternoon, local time. It said 'by Tuesday'. Around 8:45 AM this morning, Wise emailed to say they had just sent the money and I should see it around 14:00, local time.

This is from my Wise account to my Bangkok bank account registered with Wise that has previously taken a few seconds. My Bangkok bank account is compliant with the bank's updated, registered phone number policy.

Not sure why Wise now appears to have a minimum 8-hour transfer time, and it appears it waits more than 8 hours from initialising on their app to actually doing the transfer. I don't send great amounts of money, usually about £1000 two or three times a month.
