A violent confrontation between rival gangs erupted in the Nong Prue area of Bang Lamung district, Chonburi, leaving one man dead and two others injured. Armed with knives, guns and homemade explosives, the young assailants turned a planned meeting into a deadly street battle.

The clash occurred just after midnight, on the morning of 23 May, on Nong Prue Road near a local butcher’s shop in Moo 3, where a silver Honda Giorno motorbike was also found crashed at the scene. Rescue personnel from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation and Nong Prue police responded promptly after receiving reports of multiple casualties.

Among the injured was a 15-year-old male, referred to as “Tee”, who suffered a deep laceration to the ankle caused by shattered glass. Another victim, later identified as Mr Phim, was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. An 18-year-old man named Mr Det was also wounded.

Mr Phongsathorn, 19, a friend of the deceased, told investigators that the violence stemmed from a personal dispute over a woman. Despite an earlier attempt at reconciliation, tensions flared again when the opposing gang failed to appear for a planned peace talk. As Mr Phongsathorn’s group prepared to leave, they were ambushed by their rivals, who pursued them on motorbikes and attacked with an array of weapons.

The situation turned fatal when Mr Phim, lost control of his motorbike during the pursuit and collided with a parked car. His bodywas flung beneath the vehicle. The opposing gang reportedly attempted to continue their attack but were interrupted by the victim’s older brother, who rammed his silver Honda Accord into the group to disperse them and rescue his sibling.

According to the older brother, the attackers had threatened them at gunpoint, prompting him to act out of fear for their lives.

An 18-year-old female witness, Ms Tai, revealed she had narrowly escaped a similar attack involving a thrown explosive days earlier. She claimed she was deceived into believing this latest meeting was to offer an apology. However, the rival gang lay in wait and launched their ambush instead. CCTV footage from the area captured parts of the incident, including the motorbike chase and the ensuing brawl before the car sped back into the fray, scattering the gangs.

Pol. Lt. Col. Chai Sreedamanee, the investigating officer from Nong Prue Police Station, has launched a full inquiry and reported to his superior, Pol. Col. Nattaphon Phongsuksakul. Investigators have already identified the attackers and are actively pursuing them for prosecution.
