Thaksin Shinawatra is allegedly deploying his vast "resources" to mitigate the impact of myriad legal challenges on himself, his daughter-turned-Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, and the Pheu Thai-led government.

 

Partisan sources suggest that despite a Supreme Administrative Court ruling demanding his fugitive sister, Yingluck Shinawatra, pay THB 10.02 billion in damages over a previous rice subsidy scheme, Thaksin remains unfazed. He's strategically leveraging his influence to explore legal loopholes and safeguard his political interests.

 

Reports indicate that Thaksin, the de facto Pheu Thai head, refuses to vacate the political sphere despite subtle nudges from elite circles. Instead, he’s determined to secure the political future of the "puppet" Thailand's Prime Minister Paetongtarn, with whom he's tightly allied.

Since he came back he is upsetting everybody, with his fake hospitalization, his daughter as PM and his so called advisorship for Asean.. all to enrich himself... And even he got bail for violating section 112 which will be heard in a few moths, while others never were granted bail and in prison till the hearing. He has a big mouth because he has a lot of money, and now he is probably angry because his sister has to pay and as family he indirect or direct involved for the payment.. He should never had come back

Consumed by power and greed… he wants to get back what he has lost .. sigh…. What profit a man to gain the world but ultimately lose his soul ? With his wealth he can still retire, keep his mouth shut and live happily wealthy for the rest of his life.. that was all he hoped for when he was overseas .. but now he is back .. he wants all that he has lost …..

I thought Teflon Tony was here to spend his last days in the comfort of his grandchildren's company considering that he was on his death-bed, right?  Yet?  I guess that was a lie.  Here he is 110% back into politics and as healthy as ever.

"Penalties?" Never in a million years.  But should that happen no doubt their will be a Dubai bound private jet waiting a short helicopter ride away.

As much as I hate to say it, but military coups are the counter-balance to family dynasty which usurp control of Thai leadership.
If they really did work for the benefit of the average Thai they might get away with it, but instead they create power cartels which only benefit a small subset of Thais.  At the end of the day, Thailand is just one big badminton court and the average Thais are naught but the shuttlecocks being slammed back and forth.  Eventually they'll be a generational shift that might change that.

Who does he think he's kidding? He can spend all his money if he likes. But it still seems to me that the establishment including the "unbiased judiciary" were never on his side. A deal was done temprarily and all the 'players' including those aforementioned played their role.  Now what? They were never on his side. Is he just stupid, or what? He has no red shirt base anymore, they all woke up and voted for Move Forward and they will double down on that in the next  election. A coup to prevent that popular uprising will lead to major 'civil' what's the right word again??

They are corrupt money worshippers to the core. Anyone that has spent more than ten minutes here knows this.

 

Thaksin has got where he is because he is a bit better at the game than most of the others. 

 

Thais deserve the politicians they get.
