Well, shopping yesterday at Makro, and met a quite young triple x American size (do not know his nationality) with a rather good looking lady, nice typical beach/afternoon dress 600- baht, high heels and he would struggle in the west to get  a 4, and she looked 8. Unless he had a Sportscar, a huge mansion, loaded and famous with a great attitude. Unfortunate he didn't even tried to match her outfit. 

 

The look of her was amazing.

I'm considering it for retirement because it's close enough to Bangkok for the amenities and healthcare if that need came up.  I don't drink or participate in P4P, so quiet is good.  If they had good fishing, that would clinch it.

Plenty of piers to fish from, lots of locals out with their rods most morning/evenings.

Nice clean sandy beach to walk along (I did every morning), but the swimming isn't good ..... lots of jellyfish.

Try all the beaches. There's one place that has northern food. Good gyms there.

I'm more into kayaking and maybe sailing than swimming nowadays.  I love kayaking offshore in the morning before the wind picks up and it gets too choppy.

I had other plans when I met my now wife, so, you never know. 

 

I was pretty much done with Thailand, just came back for a month holiday, and supposedly my last visit before I headed for South America again

Really? I have not hired anyone , so I honestly don't know the going  rates. However, if I look at what the quality of  customer is in most of the beer bars and what the bar girls look like, I  believe the term distressed goods and senior citizen discount would be appropriate. The codgers in the  cheap  entertainment district(s) don't look like they have the money, and I doubt that people would pay a premium for an opportunity to wake up next to the unpleasant looking sex trade workers.

 

Yes, I see  many affluent people in some of the  restaurants. They are almost always with their spouse or domestic partner. Very few have young Thai wives or girlfriends. Of the farang/Thai couples, the men may be elderly, but their wives are usually within 10-20 years of them.  The gay people are almost always wealthy  young Singaporean or Hong Kong  couples, or  middle aged Europeans. I don't see the really big age gaps like I used to see in Phuket and Pattaya. Hua Hin is a family destination. It is the Royal summer  residence with government services,  military training schools and a reputable university.  It isn't a sex tourism destination. One really does not go there  to  strike up the same type of relationship  one gets in Patong/Pattaya or even Ko Samui. Bangkok  offers a much better selection of suitable partners.
