Alcohol or not, no safety barriers, or did she literally fall back down the slope/steps??

No doubt there will be a go fund me .com insurance policy set up as so many insurance policies won’t pay out now due to alcohol / drugs in the system.

People have to take more responsibility for their actions , have just one or two drinks with your meal and leave it at that , get yourself onto non alcohol drinks after that , get yourselves home safe

I haven't had a drink in over 35 years and I could have easily fallen down those steps without a railing.  Especially if they had odd step spacing like so many projects in Thailand. 

 

There doesn't seem to be much thought of building codes that could have easily prevented this tragedy.

Builders are not good with mathematics making staircases here.  I regularly trip on stairs that are inches different on one step when the builders didn't calculate correctly or eyeballed the construction.  When you are not looking down you assume each stair step will be the same.  This might have been a contributing factor.

did they actually do a blood test when trying to save her life? Hard to believe…

Uneven steps equal third world construction…more of a reflection of poor standards or poor engineers or both

Benefit of a doubt, it's easy for anyone to stumble, especially in the dark. Especially if in a good mood and chatting with someone. And some of us are simply clumsy.

I did a little research. It was hard to find because no articles said what hotel it was. Probably didnt want legal problems. They are insanely tough on bad reviews here.

 

    It was the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket.  Here is a photo of the huge staircase by the pool...
