and not bother to put it in a bank ...gee wonder if maybe he did not want a paper trail?

He apparently withdrew the money from the bank in 2020, He must have forgotten the reason for the withdrawal.

It's easily done 🤷‍♂️

So if nobody can prove it is theirs in two months or whatever the time is then does she get to keep it ??

This is what happens with items or cash found and handed in usually.

Yes, she will be able to keep it, but the police will tell her that there was a mistake in the newspaper article regarding the contents of the box. It was not 12 million baht but only 1.2 million baht . . .

To Stop The Taxman getting his hands on it, Maybe ??

I hope this woman gets a big, big reward for finding this from the government, or the rightful owner, if they can be found.

Either they initially found 20 million, or everyone knows that if you touch this money, you end up in a river.    I've found 100 baht once, kept it.  I'd like to find 20 million and test my moral compass!!!  I would immediately call the police, neighbors, and find the rightful owner.  or not.

I would put powerful magnets next to my moral compass...

In a private safe room at the police station the cop sat around the table and probably counted the money like one for you one for me one for them one for me one for you one for them and it turned out that them at 12 million but the guy counting the money in his partner probably each pocketed another few million that’s the last place I would’ve brought the money if I found it TIT

Did she enter in an abandoned apartment? Or unpaid apartment? Or where found the Box ? Lawyers do not "forget" 12 million 😂😂

I would have kept my mouth shut and kept the money 😂

I'll bet she did.

But she probably got scared as that much cash would mean that criminals would eventually come around looking for it..

All a misunderstanding, the money was prepared for the plumber who is to fix the water leak in the lawyer's bathroom ........

Then what? Authorities are all over unexplained large purchases with cash from unexplained origins.

Personally, I would have held onto the money, for safekeeping, until the owner turned up to claim it. Better that than a hefty donation to the Policemans' Ball.

he had temporarily moved the cash due to water damage in his bathroom, intending to return for it, but he forgot.

Yeah. Happened to me many times in the past. Every time it rains I temporarily move 12 million Baht and then forget to get it back.

Did the cops initially advertised the actual amount found, So any one, such as a sleaze- bag lawyer can rock up to the police station and say, "I lost $12m Baht" or did they advertise and state,"a large sum of money was found at such and such a tip in a grey box". so as to weed out the scum trying to claim it?

I mean what are the chances of a lawyer forgetting about that sort of money. Next to nil. What do the RTP get as commission when they just make a statement, without an independent check,  to say those bank statements verify the lawyers claim. Aside from that as others have stated why would a lawyer have so much money in cash and which makes totally no sense at all.

I hope the finder gets the lot.

Mystery of B12M Cash Near Nonthaburi Condo Bin Unfolds

A whopping 12 million baht has been discovered in an unexpected place – near a condo bin in Nonthaburi. The cash, encased in a plastic box, was found by a resident on Friday evening, prompting immediate police investigation.

A lawyer associated with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has since stepped forward, claiming the money as his own and asserting its legal origins.

The man, identified as Taweewat Sengkaew, reported to the authorities that the stash was mistakenly discarded amid a clean-up after a burst water pipe damaged his fifth-floor condo unit.

Mr Taweewat, who was under scrutiny for over three hours, claimed ignorance of the money’s presence in the discarded box, believing it contained only unwanted clothes.

The condo management has corroborated the incident of the burst pipe, but the police remain keen on corroborating Mr Taweewat's story. To back his claim, Mr Taweewat has been asked to present bank records confirming that the hefty sum was withdrawn in 2020.

He cited his role as a lawyer and advisor to various companies as the source of his wealth, adding that he intended to enter politics, which is why he stored the cash at home instead of in a bank.

Mr Taweewat was also candid about his position against any assumptions linking the money to his advisory role within the NBTC, especially with the agency set to auction spectrum bands by the end of June.

However, the plot thickens as Mr Taweewat's participation in a National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) sub-committee scrutiny of unusual wealth adds to the case's scrutiny.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) has noted the understandable suspicions arising from the situation due to both the extraordinary sum and the peculiar circumstances.

The office is actively collaborating with law enforcement to untangle the truth behind the 12 million baht's sudden appearance.

In conclusion, the uncovering of the 12 million baht has sparked a domino effect involving multiple agencies to ensure that the origins and declared status of the funds are thoroughly examined.
