Thai politician Chuwit Kamolvisit has announced his return to politics amid a controversy involving a leaked audio clip of a conversation between Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and Cambodian ex-PM Hun Sen.

The recording, which surfaced on 18th June 2025, sparked widespread public debate and raised questions about the PM's experience.

Despite the uproar, Chuwit predicts that the Prime Minister will neither dissolve parliament nor resign. Commenting on the "Workers' News Talk off Air" programme, he highlighted that the incident reflects a lack of political experience. He criticised the conversation's tone, suggesting it portrayed Thailand as submissive to Cambodia.

The clip led to an urgent cabinet meeting, where the Prime Minister apologised to the public, clarifying that the discussion was merely tactical and affirming the unity between her government and the military.

Chuwit voiced his disappointment in the PM's handling of the situation and argued that this kind of political manoeuvring shows a need for stronger leadership. He commended the Bhumjaithai Party for using the crisis to differentiate itself and withdraw from the coalition government, aligning with the military instead.

Furthermore, Chuwit encouraged other coalition parties to reconsider their stance in supporting a Prime Minister who he perceives as lacking maturity.

Based on his political experience, he believes the PM will resist calls to resign or dissolve parliament unless public protests force her hand.

Chuwit also revealed plans to re-engage in politics with the Rak Thailand Party, aiming to offer a clear patriotic alternative. After a successful liver transplant, he is ready to return to the political scene, determined to contribute to the nation.

does he have the same doctors as teflon toni ... the ones who brought him from his deathbed back to being a perfectly healthy person? teflon toni who promised not to interfere in politics anymore because he just wanted to spend time with his grandchildren... aren't his grandchildren actually in a school in the uk?

He could do no worse than most of the current selfish political parties in Thailand.

Liver cancer, then liver transplant.

Just another loud mouthed has been, full of broken promises.

I thought he was close to death? It would be great if he' s not.

Heartening news. Hope he is successful. Maybe the only person out there capable of any meaningful reform.

A true alternative or just another spanner in the works.... Thailand needs real change, not more of the same.

How strange then, that over the years he has never actually turned anything substantial up.

Not mine.

I stopped trusting ALL politicians back before Harold Wilson in the 1960s.

Perhaps you prefer yet another military coup?

Welcome back, Khun Chuwit.  So many people thought you were going boot tips up when you left for treatment and now you're back to treat the pollical neophytes to their incompetence.
