"Trump Triumphs At NATO Summit" - more than a little false.  Trump's premature departure was certainly a triumph for NATO.

But he's well-known for shooting early, isn't he?

The only influence that Trump has is being a Russian traitor. NATO is preparing to go it alone against the US because Trump cannot be trusted.

The new woke left is. That's why so many abandoned it and voted for Trump.

NATO countries have upped their defence spending to 5%. Trump has been calling for NATO to pay their way. They've committed to do this. Why is it you just can't bring yourself to admit this is a win for Trump which it clearly is.

At once Europe is up to 5% we will be able to get out of the iron grip. Be careful what you wish for. Nato and Europe is part of your wealth.

No answer?  I will answer for all the woke liberals.  Because I have a mental problem that denies anything that Trump does can be good - I see nothing but bad things when Trump is mentioned. I hate him and everything he stands for - Democracy, National Pride, Capitalism, Self Reliance, Rule of Law, Deporting Illegals, Equality of Rights but not Outcomes, and last but definitely not least The Constitution of the USA.

Back to me. One issue I and all rational sane people noticed during Trump's first term, was that when the USA stock market dropped it was all Trump's fault, but when the stock market increased ................. crickets in the night.  And they are doing the same - any drop is the end of the world and any increase = silence.  Much like when they are asked a rational sensible question like yours ............... they have got nothing but feelings.

Imagine a world that has been run based on people's feelings and not based on rational logic about what is best for the majority of people. Well that is where we are now - did you see the last Olympics - have you seen all the 3rd world illegals invading 'woke progressive' 1st world countries - what as absolute farce.  Trump and all the successful right wing politicians and causes (like Brexit), are becoming more the normal, and those who are not 'normal' and their 'feelings' are being more and more ignored. Things are changing for the better - it wont be always perfect - but it will be better.

Nice monologue albeit a rant.

You began with a question, then answered it by caricaturing your opponents, declared yourself the voice of sanity, and concluded by linking stock markets, the Olympics, illegal immigration, and Brexit into a single feel-good narrative.
That’s not a compelling argument—it’s a confessional wrapped in projection.

No one said Trump can’t ever be right.

But if your defense relies on a strawman liberal who despises democracy, capitalism, and the Constitution, you're not defending Trump—you’re constructing a fantasy adversary to feel superior to.

And if the point is NATO spending, maybe stick to that.

Veering into Olympic outrage and “third-world invasion” panic doesn’t bolster your case.
If your argument is robust, it shouldn’t need to be propped up by culture war distractions and grievance fillers.

Seems Trump isn't the "buffoon" that "no-one takes seriously" isn't the case with NATO countries upping their military spending to 5%.

Trump says NATO's new 5% defence spending pledge a 'big win'

image.jpeg.7456670918a4b8d26e129d1f4f823b34.jpeg

Nato leaders have agreed to ramp up defence spending to 5% of their countries' economic output by 2035, following months of pressure from Donald Trump.

The US president described the decision, taken at a summit in The Hague, as a "big win for Europe and... Western civilisation".

https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/official_texts_236705.htm?utm_source=social&utm_medium=posts&utm_campaign=250625%2Bmulti%2Bdeclaration

Precisely, it's 3.5% on comparable basis (which is quite good), plus "up to" 1.5% window dressing, in order to display 5%. Smart.

"Allies will allocate at least 3.5% of GDP annually based on the agreed definition of NATO defence expenditure to resource core defence requirements, and to meet the NATO Capability Targets. Allies agree to submit annual plans showing a credible, incremental path to reach this goal. And Allies will account for up to 1.5%  of GDP annually to inter alia protect our critical infrastructure, defend our networks, ensure our civil preparedness and resilience, unleash innovation, and strengthen our defence industrial base."

I don't know if it's true, but that's exactly what we've been reading for years on MAGA posts about Biden!  🤣

Once in a blue moon, Trump is right about something.

But the bigger picture is that Trump has alienated long term allies and they feel correctly that the U.S. has ceased to be a stable reliable friend.

That's going to bite the USA permanently.

The first sentence is a good beginning.

2nd: Yes, initially, but some have turned 180 degrees quite fast. And may turn again, nobody knows.

The last one: "Permanently" is a very long time. Why not say: "Too early to call"?

@LosLobo,

Please stop making so much sense, your last two posts just add insult to injury for the trolls.

You should probably be on a forum with a slightly higher level of discussions.

But again, thanks for the effort.

It's part of being a leader which is definitely something Sleepy Joe wasn't. As for "appearing" I think not. He's certainly not your typical POTUS but he's getting things done.

I think that you might be right, Trans. 'Committing to spending' and actually spending are two different things.

Nevertheless, I don't see how this commitment can't be seen as a triumph for Trump.

Have no doubt the money will be spent. It's more a question of what on. A pay rise for the big wigs might very well be the first point of order. NATO is no where as strong militarily as it could be and a big part of this is decades of US reliance. This is what Trump has been going on about for quite some time. Will the extra money result in an increase in lethality where NATO could protect itself without the US? I doubt it but Trump wanted them to pay a bigger portion of the pie and this would appear to have been achieved.

I have no doubt that some more money will be spent but I very much doubt whether that will equate to 5% of GDP for each and every NATO member, although I suppose an accounting sleight of hand might make it appear so.

It's actually 3.5% that's meant to be going to core military spending and 1.5% on broader security based things. Spain saying 2% is enough with Trump saying ok if that's the way you want we'll hit you on trade. Interesting times indeed.
