In a recent incident that has sparked widespread outrage, a Thai man captured foreign tourists, believed to be Indian nationals, urinating on Pattaya Beach and shared the footage on social media. The video, posted by Facebook user แอ้นท์ สุรีศรี เรืองสุขสุด, shows three men on the beach in the early hours, with two visibly urinating into the sea.

Despite being filmed, the men continued their behaviour, even smiling at the camera. One of them joined in by filming the Thai man who recorded them.

The reaction on social media was swift and indignant. Numerous Thai users expressed their disappointment, while some shared plans to post similar evidence of public urination by tourists.

However, a segment of commenters pointed out that the issue isn’t solely with foreign tourists. Many Thai visitors also reportedly engage in such behaviour, particularly when under the influence of alcohol.

Channel 7 reached out to the man for further insight. He explained that he was squid fishing around 1am when he noticed the tourists amidst laughter and witnessed their public urination despite his visible presence.

One tourist filmed his companions and attempted a friendly approach towards the Thai man, who remained firm and criticised their actions. Unfazed, the tourists laughed off his admonishment.

The Thai man emphasised the need for police to address these incidents with greater seriousness and called for penalties against those causing public hygiene issues. He also urged for more public toilets and clearer signage to guide tourists.

This isn’t an isolated issue, with similar problems reported in other tourist hotspots like Phuket, where foreigners have been seen urinating in public areas. Tensions escalated last month in Phuket when a foreign woman was caught defecating outside a restaurant, prompting an appeal from the restaurant owner for better sanitation facilities.

The lack of access to clean public toilets remains a concern. To uphold Thailand’s image as a prime tourist destination, officials are urged to prioritise public sanitation and address these recurring issues.

Improving infrastructure and ensuring adequate facilities could mitigate such incidents, helping Thailand sustain its appeal to global visitors while maintaining public hygiene and respect for local communities.

The motorbike delivery men piss in the basement car park at our Big C, one corner stinks. There is a toilet in the shop 3 minutes walk up the stairs!

Perhaps the Pattaya city council should consider increasing the number of public toilets and keep some of them open 24/7/365.

Just an idle thought.

Better than the dude pooping in the fountain brouhaha

Because he’s not a foreign tourist so it’s okay, only guavas are supposed to go wizz in a toilet.

Totally inappropriate, but there are not any public toilets around.  Been talked about many times but nothing.  Probably has the potential for LB hang outs.

As a person with Prostititas, I have pulled over on the highway and pissed using my vehicle as a shield from traffic.  I have a bottle to piss in, but usually end up pissing on myself.

A dirty lot, undoubtedly.  But, no worse than locals.   After 5 years, proud to say I’ve yet to make contact with Pattaya beach seawater.

should have used the many public toilets provided for this high class family resort..............oh wait

still no excuse, could have used one of the many bars along the beach area, ok 5 baht is out of their budget lol

Instead men of honor which used to visit Pattaya 20-30 years ago, all we have now are these… Not enough quality

Thai perv out with his camera, again. :coffee1:

How dare those Indians! That area used to be a reserved restroom for the employees of the Coconut Bar!

Almost feels like Chowpatty Beach. Just need some bhel puri and a Thums Up...

I have seen this so many times in Pattaya it does not seem newsworthy.

Do you really think that Indians are the only people on the beach at night?

Public toilets would be available to everybody and NOT just the Indian people.

What of the fancy new toilets that were being hailed about a month ago? Moved down to Hua Hin for a photo op there now?

Go down jomtien beach any night around the Soi 12 area and you can

watch locals pissing in the sea all night long.  if your into that.

Where is the outrage and the local perv with his camera. Yawn.:coffee1:

Peeing on the beach. IT'S AN OUTRAGE!

Common guys, find something worth getting upset about.

Gotta go, ya gotta go. I recall going number 2 many places I didn't plan to go.

More than one urinal has felt my wrath in Thailand. Damned peppers.

Nobody filmed me though.

That takes effort

Pattaya come for the white sandy beaches and Free golden shower.

Maybe if Pattaya Beach had more visible and convenient Toilet facilities this would be infrequent.

Walk that beach and looked.  Few pay Toilet signs, and publicly available toilets.  Make Toilets conveniently placed, free or cheap and problem will be reduced.

a) apart from huge, mostly broken, screens along the beach one still has to find public toilets available to anyone along the beach
b) I've seen hundreds of Thais, mostly drivers, peeing along wherever they stopped to poles, walls and if someone wants more detailed studies, visit the food stalls along lower Sukhumvit after 11pm. Most Soi going off Sukhumvit smell of urine as none of those food vendors offer toilets
c) while the stench is less than pleasant it is noteworthy, that if this is the only liquid "pollution" being released in public, then Thailand might just have become the cleanest country on the planet.

Stop this bashing of non-Thais, if your own people do the same or even worse. Stop splurging money into absolute nonsense as long as there might be the possibility to erect 50 - 100 toilets along the beach in Pattaya, Jomtien as well as all other beaches facing the Gulf of Thailand.

How <deleted> tiresome this hypocrisy is.

I see Thais pissing in public daily. I was returning home from a bike ride that ended in the new Benjakitti park, riding up Nana from the park entrance around 6pm and saw two taxi drivers pissing on the front wall of one of the big houses mid soi. They were less than 100 meters from street food carts and tables with people eating, but nobody batted an eye.
