Missed 90 day report by over a month.

Featured Replies

Shoot...could have sworn I put it in my computer calendar to remind me but nothing doing. It was due beginning of June and now here we are July 9th and Immi is closed for 2 days for Buddha holiday. I assume they have my last report in the computer, yes? I'm also thinking I should go to Immi drive through first chance possible and face the music (2000 baht fine and stern look?) but I'm also due to leave the country for a spell beginning of August. What are the chances nothing happens if I wait and just go through Immi at the airport when leaving the country? I've read some posts on here intimating that as a possiblity. Would that wipe things clean or could it be that when I try to re-enter in September I could be in for some trouble? I'm in Chiang Mai.

Apologies for the boring, too oft repeated topic.

Thank you kindly and I wish all a grand evening. And let me remind myself: I'm grateful to be living in Thailand and enjoying its wonders.

(A friend and I are exchanging emails everyday for a month where we list 3 things for which we are grateful. It can be whatever, from profound to petty. Thus, my comment about being grateful to be living in Thailand. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that it's pretty good here and we're lucky and it's def not a ditch in Ukraine underneath a sky full of drones and bombs)

OP, it's a set fine of 2k.

Does not accumulate like overstay.

Suggest you do nothing.

Exit Thailand via airport as planned.

Nothing will happen at airport.

Upon your return you will need to do first 90 report in person.

Rock up and do it.

If immigration officer notices you missed a report then cop the 2k sweet.

If not all good.

Thank you, Dr. Jack. You've been many times helpful to me. Much appreciation for that.

My first 90 day report upon return will be 90 days after my entry stamp, correct? Well, come to think of it, my retirement visa will need to be renewed before that time so moot point.

Cheers!

Actually I was going to edit and ask about the window for next extension.

Suggest that you do the extension and report at same visit

You will do the annual extension first, then do the 90 report.

Even more chance it will slide through no issue.

If you miss your 90-day report, you’ll be fined 2,000 THB.

You’ll need to pay this fine at the airport when you leave Thailand. Immigration will direct you to a specific room to settle the payment, and once done, you can leave the country as normal. When you reenter Thailand, your next 90-day report must be done in person again.

In addition to the fine you'll also receive a giant red stamp in your passport indicating the crime of failing to notify. This might affect any possible future application for a Privilege visa, which requires a nice clean record with Thai immigration for past years. Although hopefully it wouldn't.

The alternative is to simply leave the country and come back in and then you won't get a fine and you won't get a nasty stamp on your passport.

I disagree with Issa Compass that they will fine you at the airport. They will not care at all about you failing to do the 90-day notification.

That is 100% totally FALSE information 😖 👎

The officers at passport control at ALL the exit points (air or land) don't care in the least if you EVER did a 90 day report because that's not their job, they just stamp you out of the country.

Just in case you may be unaware or have forgotten, you will need a Re-Entry Permit, which can be obtained at the airport prior to departure, or at your reporting Immigration Office.

Just because some people haven't been fined doesn't mean this information is incorrect. Tourist visa holders and those on visa exemption aren't concerned with the 90-day report since their visas have shorter validity periods. However, for those on one-year visas, there have already been documented cases of people being fined for non-compliance at the airport.

So only holders of unexpired non-immigrant visas of the OA variety then. These are the only one-year visas that I'm aware of.

Agree. If there were ever instances of this having happened before, there  surely would have been at least one report of it in this forum. As far as I'm aware, there's never been a single report of someone's '90-day report compliance' being checked, and a fine issued for not having fulfilled it, at an airport or border.

I'm calling you out again on false information. That is 100% totally false.

Post an image of one stamp from an airport that shows someone was fined for failure to do a 90-day report when they exited the country.

Good call! Thanks so much. Hmm, just doing the extension doesn't automatically reset the 90 day report? Am I understanding that correctly? (I didn't get any Asean notifications in my email so forgot to check back!)

You know, I DID forget, so thank you for the reminder! Let's hope I remember when it comes time to leave. I think I can also get it directly at the airport before crossing "to the other side", yes? In the past, I've always had the multi-entry and it was never an issue. Not my normal MO. After more than 20 years here, the 90 day report is also pretty new to me and partly why I screwed it up. Not part of my normal MO.

Some immigration offices do a 90 report for you when you apply for annual extension.

In reality 90 report is only relevant for First Extension.

After that not connection.

At CW for example you would do the extension and then do the report.

Different desk.

BTW never rely on reminded emails. Keep track of your own report due date. Phone calendar good option.

At BKK the reentry permit desk is prior to going through passport control. It's just to the left of pp lines. Zone 2

At DMK reentry permit desk is just after passport control.

Both airports offer a 200b optional service fee of providing TM8 Photo etc. You just hand over pp.

Single entry 1000b Multiple 3800.

+ optional service fee

I'm uninformed on TM8. Is that the re-entry permit? I'll do some sleuthing on the gov. website. I'm sorry to bog you down with endless questions. I will probably go to Immi here in Chiang Mai to get the re-entry permit before leaving as it worries me last minute at the airport. Hopefully, the missing 90 report doesn't come into play. Thank you.

Yes reentry permit.

You can obtain at immigration office.

Remember to provide photo.

Here is link to form.

Print it back to back (one page)

The 90 report will NOT come into play.

Genuinely curious to know what are your sources on this + credentials? We have a team of immigration lawyers who have verified this information. But open to hearing other experiences/sources.

I missed my 90 day report, twice now.

My bad but was expecting an email reminder which I didn't get.

I understand I will pay a 2000 THB fee.

I was wondering about sending a representative.

My employer has a messenger that goes to Immigration for us on routine things.

Can a messenger go to update/correct/confess guilt and pay fine on a missed 90 day report?

If I am dropped from the reminders for online reporting is there a way to resume the online reminders?

Yes.

Someone (agent) can do Report on your behalf.

After the agent does your Report in person you will have a new due date.

Do the next report online.

After that you should receive email reminders.

However why rely on that.

Enter due date in your phone calendar.

Thanks DrJack; as you say enter in calendar from now on.

Why the rush to give immigration your money? The fine will not change regardless of how late you are or how many reports you miss.

Wait until your next extension, or the next reason you already need to use immigration, and just pay the fine then.

Right now you don't have to worry about reporting, you're already overdue. Just take care of it when you need to go in already.

It makes me nervous.

I am gonna pay the 2000 in any event.

Also my employer is involved and it makes me look irresponsible, well I guess it isn't just a look.

I understand your point but I want to get it cleared up.

tell them u dont need a receipt and see if it drops to 1,000
thats the way it is in Phuket
