Current legal age for a Thai teenager to get a motorbike license

Featured Replies

What is the current legal age for a Thai teenager to get a driver's license and ride a motorbike? The law says 15 years old but then the engine must be under 90cc. However most motorbikes are 100, 110, 125cc!😕

Thanks

The biggest segment, by far, of road fatalities in Thailand are motorbike riders, and sure, Thai policemen check

the size of the engine very closely if and when they stop you...

I thought it was 15 years up to 110cc, though school kids where I am are riding around on PCX type bikes, no helmets, school uniform with no problem, well, that is until they kill someone...

With primary schools closing down in rural areas, kids are having to travel further to school.

I regular see primary school kids riding past our house on motorbikes. They can only be ten at the most.

I can't imagine even the older kids even bother with licences.

If true no none is checking!

Did you ever get a relevant answer to your question?

I'm interested too.

Get an electric bike with pedals, and it's classified as a bicycle.

Yes.

15 year old can do a motorbike license and then ride a 110 ccm legally.

That's why  a Honda Wave110 even exists.

Most all adults will buy a 125.

As so often it doesn't make much sense.

The 110 ccm can easily do 80 km/h or more.

2 km on a bicycle?

No way today. Far too exhausting.

In the village kids on bicycles have become a rare sight.

Instead they have all kinds of electric scooters. Not roadworthy.

For the bigger distance to secondary school there is a "bus" (truck built as a songthaeo). One or two in the morning.

If you want the full traffic madness: look at a provincial capital like Udon where an armada of cars, SUVs and kids on pillion carts the students to the big secondary schools.

15 years old is old enough to die.

If they rode the scooter safely they would be no problems. But they ride like maniacs, no helmets only a mask which won’t save you. They take no responsibility they make the cars accept the responsibility to keep them alive. They deserve there destiny.
