A Japanese tourist has issued a public warning to fellow travellers after narrowly avoiding being robbed by a group of transgender individuals in the early hours of 21 July,on Pattaya’s Walking Street.

Tourist police received a call for assistance at around 04:40, from a male tourist, approximately 30 years old, who reported an attempted theft while walking through the nightlife area of South Pattaya’s Walking Street.

Officers arrived promptly to the bustling nightlife hotspot and found the Japanese man, who declined to give his name, waiting for assistance. He explained that while he was sightseeing and enjoying the night atmosphere, a group of transgender women approached and offered sexual services. After he declined, one of them came closer under the pretence of flirtation, hugging and caressing him in a provocative manner.

He became suspicious when one individual placed her arms around his neck and attempted to remove the gold necklace he was wearing. Realising what was happening, he quickly pushed the assailant away and called for help from nearby tourist police officers.

The group immediately fled and managed to evade arrest. Fortunately, the tourist did not lose any valuables.

Although he chose not to file a formal complaint, the tourist wished to share his experience as a warning to others. He expressed concern that the same group could target other unsuspecting visitors and urged police to review CCTV footage and monitor the area more closely to prevent future incidents.

So how smart! You are blaming a person for being out at a certain time, instead of group who tried to rob him.

Please, look up that problem.

Wearing a gold necklace in Pattaya is not a good idea especially at early hours in the morning ladyboys love them easy to sell  and surely insurance companies will soon wake up and not cover tourists who claim they've been robbed

I'd say Japanese are the least "street smart" nationality, living in a safe country and all. Hope that explains why this naive moron was out by himself in sleezeville at 4:40 in the frickin' morning.

Keep gold, jewels and expensive wrist watches in a safe; not good to flash that kind of stuff in Pattaya's nightlife...:whistling:

If going to Soi 6 it's best to avoid the alley that runs parallel to it, it was the domain of some pretty aggressive chicks with d_cks last time I was there.

Generally speaking most of the Japanese I've talked with in LOS were pretty cool, they usually quietly observe rather than criticize.  One politely asked me to teach him how to roll a joint.

If the cops really wanted to ‘tackle’ (😗) this scourge, they could make routine raids in problem areas, round the weirdos up and send them ‘packing’. Surely all this bad press is detrimental to that image the powers that be repeatedly tout.

Been there LOL. Five of them staring and making noises of wonder and approval.

Just make the trannies have Apple airtags implanted....haha.

Easier to locate where they were and are.

Why should claims resulting from thefts not be covered by insurers?

Always been kind of puzzled by how tightly bikes are locked up in Tokyo, especially in a place that’s supposed to have almost no crime or theft.

Pattaya is funny place. Western men tell others to just shrug off being sexually assaulted by a man in a dress, but would they permit that kind of behaviour at home?

It seems like there's no indignity too humiliating to bear when they have access to expensive liquor and cheap poontang.

A lot of victim blaming going on...... but isn't 4.am still 'operating times' in this entertainment zone. The local authorities in their efforts to support the greed of the place, and reduce the need for after hours policing have created this thieving scenario. How many years have we had this problem now, it's not like katoeys are inconspicuous is it!

A big drop in Japanese tourists numbers to Thailand coming soon?

Wrong place at the wrong time. Should have been in bed already instead looking for cheap questionable sex.

A group of chop sticks pretending to be fruit loops, don't make eye contact, don't engage in any form of conversation, just move quietly but quickly away.

At 04:40 isn't everywhere closed, must've been stargazing?

Where is the vdo? I would bet the police did not even attempt to see if the claim was true or not. Since Pattaya now has cameras almost everywhere, surely there is VDO proof and even if the Jap chose not to file a report. Attempted robbery is still a crime and can be punished.

to all tourists:  bring no valuables.  wear no jewelry regardless of how long you have worn it or are personally attached to it or just so used to putting it on as a daily routine.  It really is that simple.  the only thing I wear is a $8 USD digital armitron watch I bought at a Kmart.  yes it is old enough such that Kmart still existed in the USA.  It keeps beautiful time.  Once I was approached and was grabbed, got the old grab the crotch distraction, etc. and as the ladyboy thing tried for the watch saw it was a cheapo and left.  Really annoying.  This was not even late at night it was daytime up by soi 4 as I was walking to Big C

Round them up and jail them
