Residents of Soi Yensabai in South Pattaya are up in arms over disturbances caused by a group of Kuwaiti youths. This group has been creating havoc by riding loud motorcycles through the area, often revving their engines late into the night.

In the early hours of yesterday, just as the clock struck 4 am, locals reported to Pattaya City Police about the incessant noise from modified bike exhausts that kept them awake. Although the police responded promptly, confiscating several noisy bikes, the peace was short-lived. The group resumed their disruptive activities soon after the police left, undeterred by the intervention.

The issue, which has been ongoing for several weeks, is forcing some families to consider relocating due to the relentless noise. The residents are now urging for concrete measures to be taken to bring back tranquillity to their neighbourhood.

Police have assured an increase in patrols and stricter enforcement against illegal exhaust modifications. However, the local community remains sceptical, pressing for a lasting resolution to their nighttime ordeal.

The situation exacerbates during the summer when thousands of Kuwaiti college students visit Pattaya. Though the commotion often declines with the resumption of classes, their behaviour has already led to accidents, including some fatal incidents, thereby fuelling tensions between residents and tourists.

A further concern raised by locals is the students’ general disregard for road safety norms. They are often seen riding without helmets and typically lack the necessary licences, vehicle registrations, insurance, and other legal documentation. Their habitual speeding and disregard for traffic regulations contribute to the growing chaos in the area.

The residents’ pleas highlight a broader issue of maintaining order and safety in tourist-heavy zones like Pattaya. The community is eager for effective solutions that will not only address the immediate disturbances but also ensure a safer environment for everyone.

Local authorities are now under pressure to find a balanced approach that reinstates peace and enforces road safety without alienating the influx of tourists vital to Pattaya’s economy. As a response to the residents' concerns, there are calls for immediate action to establish a harmonious coexistence between locals and visitors in this vibrant city.

While police efforts continue, residents are hopeful for collaboration between law enforcement, local government, and tourist groups to create a sustainable approach for community wellbeing and safety. The stakes are high, and the demand for action is clear—residents want their peaceful nights back and a secure environment for all.
