Driving License Agency

Featured Replies

Has any member or knows of anyone who has successfully used an agency to obtain a Thai driving license. Yes there are a lot of scams for everything thing around the world so I'm just asking because I keep seeing advertising for them.

Not an agency.....but I have taken three people to do their driving test, all failed and they then paid (I think) 1500B for their licence at the licence office.

I have used an agency but they didn't obtain it I had to be present and go through the requirements. They set up the appointment and paid the fee for me.

Unfortunately, I'm the other end of the country. I would be extremely grateful if you could send me the details by personal email of your agent.

Thanks

I am in Isaan, Province of Roi Et which is approximately 55 km away.

My wife was showing me one of those ads.  It was 1,300 baht for a license.  You just had to send them  copies of the required documents.  It said they would send you a picture of your new license before you had to pay.  It's so easy to fake everything nowadays.  So just because they show you your new license before mailing it doesn't really protect you. I don't know if they are scams or not.  I might try it just to find out.  It's not that much money.

Yes, I heard similar figures and procedures but then they add different stages where to stay in the system much more payments are needed.

Why you just not go ask  what you have to do at the Roi Et DLT ( situated in Suwanaphum I think)

Thanks, I know what to do officially, but I was thinking about cutting corners and through all the red tape.

100% fake.

Picture of you is taken at DLT just before printing the license card.

Medical certificate required.

Physical tests required.

Falls into the category of Khao San licenses.

From the OP it's totally unclear what is requested?

Doing DL from scratch?

Converting home country (which) license?

Having IDP?

Doing it from scratch is the only way with some challenge. Did it for motorbike in 2017.

Otherwise just paperwork and the minimal physical test.

Sorry I didn't make it clear. To be honest, just laziness. My first full Thai license was from 2000 and I had it extended at 2 different offices. It expired a good few years ago and we are now at our new address. I'm off to the Immigration Office in a few weeks so I'll probably end up renewing it the correct way.

Here is an update so everyone now knows the answer. It's as others have guessed and/or suggested.

Buying a service is not cheating......everyone (including the DLT) knows what is happening.

Might have gone up I guess......I wonder if the robber barons talk to each other.....555

Never use an agency, use Thai driving schools. They represent the official way to avoid the hustle at some DTL's and they are quiet cheap.

So, the driving schools are not corrupt?

(a genuine question)

I enjoyed using an agent.

If anybody tells you they can get you a license without your personally appearing at the license office, it is 100% a scam.

Reputable agencies will go with you, and ensure that you pass and get your license, I think around 3k now.

It's not that difficult to do it yourself from scratch, I lost both my UK/Int licences, and had to do it, Certificate of Residence, local Doctors for a Medical Certificate, Passport and a few hours doing the tests on the computer, https://www.dlt-elearning.com/ piece of cake.
