Pattaya police have fined an unnamed British man for reckless driving after he cut in front of an emergency rescue vehicle, made an obscene gesture at volunteers and later crashed into a local resident’s motorcycle.

The incident occurred at around 04.30 on 11 August, as rescue volunteers in a number of rescue vehicles, from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in Pattaya were transporting an unconscious victim, from a near drowning incident, to a nearby hospital. While travelling along Thepprasit Road with sirens and lights activated, a foreign motorcyclist riding a chopper suddenly swerved in front of the ambulance, ignoring warning signals.

Witnesses reported that the rider weaved from side to side and raised his middle finger at the rescue team. Volunteers attempted to get him to pull over, but he accelerated away, eventually losing control and colliding with a local’s motorcycle. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Police from Pattaya City Station were called to the scene and detained the man, who was identified as a British national. He appeared shaken, apologised and was released after agreeing to pay for the damage caused. He claimed he was startled by the sound of the ambulance.

Officers recorded the incident and issued a fine for dangerous driving.

What an idiot. I remember that Swedish moron who kicked the doctor and I think has fled Thailand now was fined for doing the same thing.

On Dec 25, 2023, Mr Fehr while driving his brand-new Audi, cut off the ambulance, lowered his window, raised his middle finger and cursed.

Mind boggling that anywhere should need a law.

Ok,. Why am I the only one noticing the inconsistency here. The ambulance was described as  transporting an unconscious victim, from a near drowning incident, to a nearby hospital, and yet managed to chase the motorcycle and then pull over after the driver wiped out? There was another rescue vehicle on scene. Why did the ambulance not continue to the hospital instead of stopping to converse with the  driver? If this was a critical case, surely they would have gone to the hospital asap?

Are you suggesting that the ambulance may have caused the accident? Surely not? 🤔 You mean they slowed down so he could pass in so they could chaserun him down? Really? Is that what you think?

They may have wanted to chuck the Brit in the back as well, double bubble...

But sadly for them, he got up...........🥴

The text says "a number of rescue vehicles" and "a foreign motorcyclist riding a chopper suddenly swerved in front of the ambulance, ignoring warning signals". Seems like video is from the ambulance's dashcam with another rescue vehicle driving in front.

Outstanding work and kudos to the cops, confiscate his car and lock him up for a while.

I was in Italy last year and I noticed these ambulances with these monster bumpers on the front, and if a car didn't get out of the way they just rammed into them and slid them onto the side of the road, and it was an absolute brilliant thing to watch. The nimwits in the car just sat there with their jaws open, while the ambulance sped off.

Motorcyclists are even more anti-social and dangerous than cyclists. Ban the whole lot of them. Safer for everyone.

The guy may be an idiot, but Thai ambulance drivers are notorious for driving like kamikazes in a race to be first to get to the scene.   They're more of a wild west commercial concern than a well regulated emergency agency.

I liken them to tow truck drivers back home who do the same, hoping to be the first on the scene so the cops give them the tow job.  That stands in stark contrast to ambulance and rescue squads who deserve respect and obedience.

the other day, support Honda wave in front man shouting at people to get out of the way, behind the ambulance car estate driven by a 12yo very calmly, barely looking over the steering wheel

True karma would be that when this muppet crashes his bike next time and needs an ambulance, one will not arrive in time to help him.

Yup, I don't know why I always get them mixed up when Urs Fehr comes up on here. I apologize to any Swedes on the forum.
