I also have that impression at least, it has been several years since my thai partner's sister, on her motorbike, was run over to death by a thai nut who went to overtake in a pick-up on a 2-lane road, got into a skid, (you know rear-wheel drive) and so ran the woman to death.
The total amount compensated by that guy was 400k
That won't let that Englishman (also a dummy) get away with it.

Sorry to hear that.

If you don't have equality under the law then you don't really have law. I think you know what I mean.

Not victim blaming in any way but it would be good to know if she was wearing a helmet.

  • This reads like it's  harsher penalties for Farang and less so for Thai?. so if i Thai rider kills a Foreigner / Tourist  & pleads " no have money" for compensation then its ok..

  • With the ladys death his bail will most likely be revoked and he will be locked up until a whole lot of money is payed to the girls family.....I certainly hope his family is well off....If not....He i

Recklessness has its consequences. He would likely be jailed, charged and convicted most anywhere. My pity is for the victim, and my distain for the recklessness of the perpetrator.

A needless, senseless death. Why is it that when some people come to Thailand, they do stupid, crazy things they wouldn't even contemplate in their own or most other countries?

Although he never meant to kill the poor woman, I can't feel any empathy for his situation. Some people are just plain stupid, and the world is a safer place with him off the streets.

Another stoner showing off

How in the hell do you know that?  I would bet 100 to 1 that he was drunk.  Pot smokers are either too paranoid or apathetic to do stunts on a bike!

fine   as long as it clearly states that it is about the tiny minority of "crazy" brits who in no way represent the vast majority     You should stop your racist rants

I don’t know about that anymore Prang.

We were the only country to democratically vote to have tariffs placed on us.

And we voted in Boris.

He is out on bail.

He can’t run to Cambodia with all the heat on that border, Burma is dodgy, Laos is communist so Malaysia it is.

When a Thai person kills Thais  or injures Thais they don't have to pay anything but when a white person kills a Thai all hell breaks loose

We always get these clowns on here tarring us as Brits with the same brush.

An idiot is an idiot, they don't have specific nationalities.

Some countries have a higher percentages of idiots.

And some localities in countries have higher percentages of idiots.

I don’t see the Japanese out there being idiots as much as us.

It must be our upbringing I think.

Another sweeping generalisation that is Anti British.

No, not at all. But I see it hurts you.

1. No doubt he's a Brit

2. Brits are the majority of unlawful behaviour in Thailand and their home country.

3. Brits with reckless behaviour are unwanted in Thailand and should stay where they belong to: prison

4. Compare the cases of Brits with cases of Germans, French aso: Brits are ranking top

Why would it be "good to know"...so that you could then blame her for her own death?   Did she have head injuries?

A stark lesson to be learned from this. Pulling wheelies and doing stunts can get you banged up for murder...

Nonsense.  There is a huge difference between causing death by reckless driving and murder.

Yes same punishment, same compensation for all, whether foreign or Thai. He's been stupid it seems and the consequences are tragic. He should get punished fairly and equally by the courts as a Thai would.

Reckless Riding causing death. That's significant jail time as in many countries. Even more so if intoxicated and unlicensed.

Murder requires premeditation is all the detail that is needed.

I would advice him to have a leisurely walk into Cambodia. If he get's lucky, he will do a final wheely on a landmine. He would earn it.

What is it with the wheelies?

I often see idiots like this doing them on the roads, here in Samui. Either that, or on powerful motorbikes, screaming along on what are basically two lane minor roads.

They must leave their brains at home when they come to Thailand.

Its now not just the Police and legal side of things. A lot will depend on how vengeful the family are feeling at losing the girl in her prime.
