  • What an idiot, 68 years old and now will spend the rest of his short life in a thai prison and most likely will die in there. Serves him right though.

He might be allowed to keep them, considering where he's going.

It is hoped his sentence is what you say. It may send a message to idiots trying this that they will suffer badly from it.

I recently July31st, had a friend that was doing meth. He was 57. We were Potty-trained together & BEST of BEST friends.

In Florida. I had not seen him in 6 years, but apparntly he made it to a hospital near Orlando as he wasn't feeling well.

His 86 year old mothertold me they asked him if he did any drugs? He said "No" & went into a coma.

His blood test came back full of methamphetamine ,Fentanyl & marijuana.

He did 10 days in a coma and died at 57.

===================

I would not know a bag of meth if you whacked me in the head with it. I never tried it & never will. They make it with brake fluid & battery acid so I hear.

That <deleted> is just BAD NEWS & I applaud any efforts to eradicate it.

Agree totally except, going to Perth, it's more likely a Swan Lager or Emu Export beer gut.....unless he was just transmitting there.

฿1.2 mill is not exactly fortune unless they meant AUD??

If you're gonna smuggle 5 kilos of drugs why would you do it though some of the most restricted, highly screened and secured routes in the world.

Really amazing some people.

I just don't get it.

I can understand desperation leading to desperate behavior, but not knowing that X-rays are basic detection systems used in every international airport in the world...

Even if they incorrectly believe that meth won't show in X-Rays, using metallic foils to wrap the drugs is going to get a secondary inspection.

I am suspecting that these idiots are used as distractions for Customs Agents so the real mules can slip through during the hoopla.

Is this another guy or the one from about 2 weeks ago ?

Idiot 🙄🙈

If the Aussie is of Indian origin, I can see why he would be flagged.

Well... this mule looks Aussie alright. Now they are competing against the Indians, Pakistanis and the Afgans - and they are doing it well!

At this rate, the Indians, Pakistanis and the Afgans will be beaten off the track pretty soon.

Was this a tip off by someone, it doesn't say?

Was it pure luck that they found him?

I am pretty sure many passengers carry strange things ,(legal) in their suitcases.

It’s strange because it says that he was identified as a high risk individual while en route to Thailand. Not sure how they would do that. Unless they had a tip off from the Australian side but don’t want to admit it as it means they have to share the credit

He was bound to get nabbed either departing BKK or entering Perth, you know your luggage is going through the xray machines and any unusual looking things get a closer check.

It's hit and miss in Perth  9 out 10 times you say nothing to declare and it's straight out the door.iam gathering it's a tip off as you rarely get checked going out of Thailand.

The last sentence was so funny, I had to laugh!

Why dont the Thai's just let him go through and let the authorities in Perth, let them deal with it, all this does is cost Thailand,

I think he was inbound, wasn’t he?

having reread the op, I think he was outbound. Sorry for the mis read

And another one bites the dust, almost happening on a weekly basis. It’s hard to comprehend why people are taking the risk. This guy is 68 and you’d assume he’d understand the big risk he was taking.

Maybe he was in trouble with the wrong people or he just thought about the money, who knows, but he’s screwed now 100%

If he made it to Perth he would've been screened for sure. On my last trip coming back, March, everyone on the Thai flight were being screened. I was pulled over, bag through the x-ray machine, customs officer said it was to do with the legalisation of pot in Thailand. I had no pot but a fillet knife I take over to cut my fruit with. Once he saw it was a butchers knife and not a band weapon I was good to go. This guy was a complete fool!. No more boom boom for a while.

This guy is 68 and you’d assume he’d understand the big risk he was taking - just proves that Somchais are found all over, not only in TH as some people are thinking.

Why do these people attempt to go through the airport? Why not try mailing it instead?

Yeah, at least if it gets seized he won't go down with it!

Why not just build a rocket ship, same as Elon?

You don't even need to attain escape velocity in order to boost the payload into near Low Earth Orbit (LEO), sufficient to have it land somewhere out in the bush, and then you could track it using Starlink technology.

Yes, this guy is no Rocket Scientist, and dumb as a brick.

The Bangkok Post says it was indeed, a tip-off.

He was arrested by narcotics and Airport Interdiction Task Force police acting on a tip-off, according to Customs Department spokesman Panthong Loykulnan.

With a street value of nearly USD 400k, that's a *dealing* amount of methamphetamine.

The old guy was probably promised less than 5% of that, to get it through..

Now the downside risk he is facing is not jail time, it's the death sentence.

I wish these mules would look at the risks more closely, before they take them.

You get better bang for your buck if you jail them in Thailand,

He was confused, he thought he was going to London and no one would go near the soap bars

All I can say is this idiot will shed that fat gut he had really quickly in the BKK Hilton what a complete moron at his age what did he think would happen Oh he's old so must be honest,,, yeah right if he's lucky he might make it to 78 in prison here..

So he was leaving Thailand. Are they concerned with where he got it? Not one word of that.

Don't drop the soap in the Bangkok Hilton buddy!
