A remarkable event has shaken Thailand’s notorious underground cockfighting scene, as a champion rooster named Fakhamram was sold for a staggering 6.5 million baht. This sale follows Fakhamram’s triumphant victory in a high-stakes match at the Kaew Khok Krot stadium in Nakhon Ratchasima, marking a significant moment in the sport's history.

Fakhamram, hailing from Richa Farm, cemented his legendary status on Sunday, August 17, by defeating Jao Kaotao from the Ban Suan Nong B White Rooster Farm. The showdown was nothing short of epic, with a prize pot reaching an astonishing 125.1 million baht.

Set over five intense rounds, the match saw both roosters equipped with wrapped spurs and gaffs, as is customary in such traditional battles. Fakhamram displayed unparalleled agility and precision, gaining the upper hand early in the contest. By the second round, his dominance was apparent, and by the fourth, victory was assured, much to the delight of the ecstatic audience.

The story didn’t end with the match. On August 18, Apichart, the owner of Richa Farm and Fakhamram, announced the rooster’s transfer to the Num Rong Mee stable for an impressive 6.5 million baht. This price tag underscores Fakhamram’s unparalleled status within the cockfighting community.

The new owner at Num Rong Mee expressed profound admiration for Fakhamram, referring to him as the most valuable rooster they've ever acquired. A social media post by the stable shared a bank slip of a 3 million baht transfer, indicating a payment plan for this historic purchase.

Fakhamram’s sale has captivated enthusiasts across Thailand, hailed as a groundbreaking transaction in the cockfighting world. The rooster's value surpasses that of many luxury vehicles, highlighting the financial stakes and fervour surrounding this traditional sport.

While cockfighting remains a controversial subject, particularly concerning animal rights, it is deeply ingrained in Thai culture. Proponents argue it’s a historical tradition, though there is increasing global scrutiny on ethical grounds.

In the wake of this unparalleled sale, Fakhamram continues to be the talk of the town, embodying both the opulence and complexity of Thailand's cockfighting scene. Whether celebrated or criticised, this remarkable transaction solidifies Fakhamram’s place in the annals of cockfighting history, capturing the imagination of many.

In the past some countries held Cock fights with the sharp spurs that can cut the rooster and indeed the fight was usually to the death, today in Thailand that practice is outlawed now the fights are usually three twenty minute bouts and the owners carefully monitor the condition of their birds and if they think it is distress they will through a white towel stopping the fight, as you see they can have a large investment and do not want to loose their birds. Here is my video on Cock fighting in Northern Thailand.   https://youtu.be/RCANY_UgI1M

Sad that this cruelty goes on in 'Buddhist' Thailand .

Could say the same about horse racing or boxing!   But I won't!

A relative breeds fighting cocks. His prize cock has beaten other cocks. Cocks from around Thailand wilt when his cock enters the pit. He always tells me his cock stands out from other people's cocks.

If a cut of the pot goes to the right people, nothing is illegal.

Which is why I love Thailand.

Two Legends, Two Philosophies.

Two record-breaking legends side by side: Fakhamram, the Thai rooster sold for 6.5M baht, and Carina FIV do Kado, Brazil’s Nelore cow valued at 168M baht. Icons of genetics, prestige, and sky-high value in their worlds.

It makes me think of my old neighbour Piet (Pete). He told my mother he’d never invest in anything that breathes — because he hated to see his investments die.
