Foreigner homeless (I think) approach.

Featured Replies

Yesterday, a foreigner approached me asking for money. I was sitting near the Burger King in Jomtien. It's not my custom to give money, knowing it could be used for alcohol, or worse. So I offered to buy him food and drinks. He was really unkempt; I think he was homeless. I wanted to ask him what had happened, but it's none of my business. How can a homeless foreigner survive in Thailand? I don't think he bothers to renew his visa and thus constantly faces arrest. Aside from the temples that provide free food and water, are there organizations that help these people? If I wanted to help, are there any organizations I could contact? Thanks.

Many Thai food vendors feed homeless people. I've seen cheeky beggars trying to be choosers by trying to get dishes that cost 150 baht. In both instances they refused less expensive dishes and the vendor told them to piss off.

As mentioned.. the Thai people are quite generous and for the merit willingly give to destitute people.

Seen that guy a few times, should be deported.

Maybe best to report them so they can be deported, there are plenty of homeless Thais you can give money and food to

No, but I think you can label Yaba, and other synthetical drugs as worse. Maybe even heroin and some times abuse of different medicines.

Eeeeeh? Do you by any chance have some information to back up such claim?

Most places will state that alcohol is worse for both society and your health.

Weed is bad for society because it make some people lazy but so much people who smoke weed are hard working and very successful. Weed help people to lower obesity, addictions, and road accident. it’s an effective medicine for many things.

Alcohol is so bad for society because it make many people agressive. Most of the fighting and road accidents are linked to alcohol. This is not a medicine at all

Alcohol is legal, while grass isn't. That's all I know.

Since we are expats here, we would have to go back to one of the democracies we come from to influence that. In Thailand the profit making mafias decide/influence the legality of things. Sometimes they call themselves a democracy, where to going rate for a vote goes from to 200 up 1000 THB. I know that quite well as I live in the heart of Bhumjaithailand..

at least he has a roof over his head and free food.

There is also a woman going around SIAM PARAGON with the my luggage is late or missing do you have story

You did not say if he took you up on the offer for food or not.

many do not want the food they want the money.  Not sure about here but there are in some countries professional beggars that beg for food but need the money to give to their handlers.

Why? If the Thais aren't bothered, why are you?  Thais mind their own business as long as people aren't being intrusive.  Perhaps you could observe and learn from them.

Are you bald? It could be a case of hair envy.

There is a homeless farang living on the beach at the bottom of soi5 Pratumnak, been around for a while now
