No because I will outlive you for many decades, I'm sorry to say. No offence.

You mean days?

Yes, so if you look at the chart 2000 and even 2003 had almost identical homicide rates to the years before the ban. Only in 2003 did it go down. Long after the ban. So that suggests there were other reasons rather than the ban.

Though the number for 2018 is completely different to the number Google AI states.

Those numbers are for ALL murders not just gun related. The majority (almost 80%) of gun deaths were suicides and removing guns did stop many of those. But the reality is that in Australia they not only banned guns they forced a lot of people to hand in their guns and many of them had no reason to posses one.  I myself was a club shooter but had not used the guns for years so I handed them in because club membership and licence fees were drastically increased. However, there was only about 3 million guns in Australia in 1996 and there are about 3.5 million today (more than before). Which proves the issue is not millions of guns - it is who has guns - THAT is what the laws in Australia showed. Take the guns off those that do not really need them - ban all ownership not approved - and live on an island in the middle of nowhere and stop others coming in.

There are 500 million guns in USA and a LOT of people will refuse to give them up - unlike in Australia.  And more guns will just illegally come through from Mexico etc. anyway.  The solution in USA is to licence and train anyone that legally wants to own a gun - like being required to get a licence to drive a car.  That means the 2nd amendment does not need to be removed - because there is no way that 75+% of the States would agree to such a change in the Constitution. Only woke liberal idiots think that changing or making a law will change people's behaviours. There are more deaths now in Australia with knives than ever committed before - it is people that kill.

Easy. I am life. I have the right to survive. In fact survival is my highest instinct. A gun is the teeth and claws evolution has deprived me of.

A gun is a tool to ensure my surivival.

Quick way to reduce the population. Everyone is a potential enemy. Better I shoot first and ask questions later. Works a treat until someone beats me to the draw.

Excellent spot, so that chart is useless for the purposes of this discussion.

Fully agree with the second part of the post.

But someone can kill a lot more people with a gun than with a knife.

Christ sake, USA is like EU, we got everything to in a very little space and time to travel compared to USA.

I'd love to visit Europe, especially Italy, Spain, France, Poland, Germany, The UK, and others, and plan to after I move back to the US, but as a place to live, the US is right for me as it has everything I want and need, all in one place, and is a good place for my daughter.

Why does the left get all worked up about guns, but does not seem at all concerned that there seems to be more and more people wanting to kill children?

Trump told 30,573 lies during his four years in office, but it just doesn’t matter in today’s low-road politics

When did the low road become the busiest thoroughfare in politics? When did notoriety eclipse character in public life? And how did psychopathic lying so easily relegate facts to the outer limits of irrelevance?

What lies have I fallen for? To be clear, I have never claimed nor meant to imply that Trump never lies.

If the (I think it was) Washington Post was tracking the lies of all politicians, or if they actually defined what they believe constitutes a lie, or they only counted each "lie" once, they may have a bit of credibility, but they did none of those things.

What do you believe are the five most egregious lies Trump has told?

Poor deflection. You were claiming the left is reliant on lies, when it is clear who is the biggest liar.

If you were honest, you address my post, as I addressed @marin's, but you can't, so you deflect.

Smart folks laugh at that stat when you look at the murder map by county. 99% of the US is one of the safest place on earth.

So stay away from the 1% and you obviously won't need a gun to protect yourself then. Because who needs a gun for protection in one of the safest places on earth, right?

Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suggested there was a problem in the United States because children could not "bring their guns" to school.

"You know, these kinds of mass shootings, people have had guns in this country forever," he continued. "When I was a kid, we had shooting clubs at our school. People, kids, my classmates, other people would bring a .22 rifle with their guns to school and park it in the parking lot."

Kennedy insisted that there had "never been a time in America in the history of humanity" when people "just started randomly shooting."

"It's happening in our country," he pointed out. "It's not happening around the world."

Wrong, wrong, RFK.

Just three examples from the 1960s.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mass_shootings_in_the_United_States

August 1, 1966 Austin, Texas 16[n 1][n 16][n 33] 31 46 University of Texas tower shooting: A student and former Marine sharpshooter stabbed his wife and mother to death before using the University of Texas clock tower as a sniper's nest to kill 15 people, including the unborn baby of a pregnant woman, and wound 31 before being killed by police.
June 17, 1966 Paterson, New Jersey 3 1 4 1966 Paterson, New Jersey bar shooting: Two men opened fire in a bar, killing three people and wounding another. A boxer and another man were wrongfully convicted and imprisoned for 18 years.[331]
April 25, 1965 Orcutt, California 4[n 1] 10 14 1965 Highway 101 sniper attack: A 16-year-old stole his father's military rifle and shot at automobiles driving down the highway, killing two and injuring eleven before committing suicide. A third victim died later at the hospital.[332]

So, it's nothing new, so nothing to be concerned about.

I think it a good bet the if Trump came out in favor new gun laws, the left would be all about the protecting the second amendment.
