Should have spent the cash on a lawnmower aye. Aren't selangs illegal anyway, uninsureable and untaxable and unusable on roads. Bless him.  😝

Sidecar motorcycles, or saleng, are a common and generally legal form of transport in Thailand, but their legality depends on the vehicle's approval and registration. Vehicles not originally manufactured or approved with a sidecar, such as those that are heavily modified, may be technically illegal and can pose insurance risks. For legal operation, the sidecar attachment must be registered in the vehicle's "green book" (registration document).

He should do cross words but not riding a bike. Shape and keeping fit is one thing, but safety and common sense another.

Now he's pedestrian. Very safe 👍

It's just a little motorbike. Two guys can pick it up and put it in their pickup truck.

Motorcycle with sidecar .

They didn't put it on a pickup.

The driver used his foot to propel it along the road

That is going to hurt.

Am curious why he did not lock the bike. Also, the story does not say make and model so how will anyone know if it passes them.

no it is not. I have pushed a great many bikes with the rider on it when they had engine trouble or ran out of gas. It does not hurt to push a bike this way while driving your own bike.

At his age he might have left it somewhere else and forgotten where that was

He works as a translator but needs the assistance of a translator ???

Time to buy a lawnmower Wayne

Wonder what reaction would be on Thai facebook pages if a Falang stole 1 of these.

I am confident he must have taken a photo of his "beloved" bike.  Perhaps some photos, the license plate number, and anything to make it easy to identify might help GET IT BACK!  "Help us, help you" ... what a concept!!!

Why would a translator need a translator unless of course the law firm he works for doesn't need Thai translated!

You beat me to it, I was about to point the same thing.

.. "Wayne, who works locally as a translator for a law firm"..

Yeah, maybe the shortest way to heaven 👍

No good crying over spilled milk at the very least should have had strong chain and padlock and iron bar concrete in ground, bike probably stripped into a thousand pieces by now.

Bad luck for him. Most Thai thieves are opportunists. A good padlock and chain would have prevented Somchai and buddy from taking his beloved motorcycle away from him. Hope it gets returned, but probably stripped down and dismantled already.

Not a real motorbike, it’s got training wheels on it, much safer for an old fart

From the post “Footage from a nearby curtain shop shows two men, aged about 25–30, arriving on a white motorcycle with no licence plate. One pushed the vehicle clear before climbing aboard to steer, while the driver used his foot to propel it along the road. The pair were last seen heading towards the Santaphon College intersection.”

Always useful have a tracking device, well hidden,  in any vehicle or luggage and have it connected to your smartphone and computer at home.

And there it was gone! I know how he feels. I had my combination stolen in London way back in 1960. I wanted to take my three children to see their grandmother on Mother's Day. Looked out of the window and yep. There it was gone. The bastards!

Wow you hold a grudge a long time.

When it comes to my motorbikes and the amount of work and money I had put into it. Depriving my kids of a trip to see their grandmother, yes. I repeat. Bastards! Thieving ones at that. Pic. My first son trying out my Triumph 6T Thunderbird.

Fantastic photo - a lovely keepsake. I would say though that you look a little more impressed by the Triumph than your son does! 👍

I doubt the thieves own any vehicle other than broken down motor bikes

Maybe he translates languages other than Thai.

Seems that he's sharper than you, though, as the OP included CCTV of it being nicked from where he left it.
