A few minutes ago I transferred 1.000 € to my bkk bank account using Wise. Money arrived within seconds.

Except you have something different in mind:

The problem was never about receiving the funds in general.

It is about the fact that transfers with WISE were not designated as funds from abroad as has been before.

This can make problems if using the transfers when applying for one year extension at immigration.

Do you use the BKB app?

What is the description of the transfer?

Sorry not being concrete in my question to you guys. This is how it came about. A friend of mine living in Sweden with his thai-wife, they have a daughter in Thailand (adult and thai), she have her own bank account in her name at BKK Bank.

Money was sent via normal bank to bank transfer at the 29th august, and it have not yet arrived to days date. My friend was concerned as there is a lot of crap at Tik Tok he have seen (via his thaiwife of course) and videos of falangs quing up to withdraw their money afraid BKK bank going broke or something.

I know since before that Pattaya is the sinkhole of romours and fake news, so I do not care too much about these videos, but I just wanted to check with you guys, so I haven´t miss something big here. But it seems by your answers that all is quite normal, so I can maybe settle and calm my friend, now.

Thank you

It should have settled same day or next day, usually the bank returns it if an issue, they should ask Wise and the bank

Has the daughter checked with the Bangkok Bank branch?

Was it a large transfer?

Approx amount?

I have had international transfer problems before and the bank (Kasikorn) called me and everything got sorted out. Why didn't Bangkok Bank call you? Not sure. They should have.

Have a look in the banking section about Bangkok bank freezing accounts and requesting paperwork from some holders. That is probably what the videos are about.

This is all to do with BOT trying to stop/reduce mule accounts and Bangkok Bank have seemingly implemented in a very heavy handed way.

'Money was sent via normal bank to bank transfer at the 29th august'  , whatever that means.

SWIFT likely.

And even SWIFT should not take that long!

I have had an account with BBL for over 20 years and have transferred my pension annuity to my US bank and then transfer monthly to BBL and over that period I have NEVER had any problems with the transfers.  If I send a wire transfer prior to 0800 US eastern standard time, the transfer will occur that day so it will show up on my BBL account the following date as Thailand begins the day earlier than the US.  As for supporting documtation from the BBL for Immigration, I have never had any problems there either - I just went to my branch office in CM and they showed me what immigration wanted, and then said the monthly report would need to be generated from the main office in BangRuk so a 5-7 day delay for that letter but any other documentation would be done by the branch office.  Never had any problems with them nor with immigration in CM.  Now with an LTR I don't think about those possible problems.

Check with both banks.  While it sounds like this type of transfer has been done on a regular basis there is always a chance of some type of error especially if humans are involved.  Th3 originating bank should be able to confirm that the correct routing number and receiving account number are correct.  They should also be able to track where the money went.  In Thailand the receiving bank should be able to tell you if the are any issues with the Thai account.  Some accounts have been frozen either due to account discrepancies or suspicion of being connected to mule accounts.

No problem here - B30000 from Australia to SCB using WISE 5 minutes ago. Took about 30 seconds to arrive.

More like people are looking for likes and views.

Maybe the authorities are worried about a run on the banks?

the ONLY way to ascertain what happened to the transfer is to go to the branch that the account is held and the funds were sent from and request a trace to be put on the transfer.

It's possible that when the bank processed the transfer they incorrectly processed the receiving SWIFT and/or account number. If either of those was the case, then the branch should be able to take the necessary action to recover the funds from the incorrect branch/account and reprocess to teh correct one. It will take some time, usually around 7-10 business days in my experience, but it's doable.

I did a transfer from HSBC in UK about 9am yesterday Thai time, it was in my account at 09.46 this morning.

I know some banks take a bit longer due to intermediary but should be done by now.

Better to make enquiries with remitting bank rather than the receiving bank, good luck.

I can confirm that; for me, the transfer from WISE to Bangkok Bank is always very quick.
