The Corrections Department confirmed that Thaksin Shinawatra, the former Prime Minister of Thailand, underwent medical evaluation at the Corrections Hospital following complaints of fatigue and pain. After his check-up on September 19, he returned to Klong Prem Central Prison. Thaksin's condition is stable but under close observation.

Thaksin’s health issues include cervical spondylosis, prompting further medical appointments due to the absence of specialists. Corrections Deputy Director-General, Pol. Lt. Col. Chain Kanthanapichet, reassured the public of his stable condition. Despite anxiety, Thaksin remains on regular prison meals.

Thaksin's daughters recently visited him, providing support and funds worth 15,000 baht for prison expenses. Pheu Thai Party leader Paetongtarn Shinawatra commented on her father's health, noting that while he seemed slightly unwell, his spirits were high.

Following his return to Thailand in August 2023, Thaksin’s brief stay at Bangkok Remand Prison ended with his transfer to the Police General Hospital due to serious health issues like high blood pressure.

Public discourse continues about Thaksin’s treatment in detention, with allegations of preferential treatment surfacing. The Corrections Department has denied these claims, emphasising the necessity of specialised care. His prison routine includes light activities and access to a welfare shop, where inmates can spend up to 500 baht daily.

Key Takeaways

  • Thaksin Shinawatra's health is stable amid ongoing medical checks.
  • Controversy arises over alleged preferential treatment in custody.
  • Thaksin’s routine includes light exercise and welfare shop purchases.

So sad to read that justice in THailand doesn't exist... Corruption and lies for the rich to get away with everything and the common people are being left alone and no one cares about them.. This is an example... the super rich lied about everything, fled away, for 15 years and is ruining the country, but is treated as a hero.... How many normal prisoners have same problems and are ignored?? Why are the people keep accepting this??

Cervical spondylosis is age-related "wear and tear" of the cervical spine's discs and vertebrae, which can lead to cervical radiculopathy when the degenerative changes compress or inflame a nerve root, causing symptoms like neck, arm, and hand pain, numbness, tingling, and muscle weakness.

Treatment
  • Non-Surgical Options:
Often the first line of treatment, these can include physical therapy, pain medications, use of a cervical collar, or steroid injections called nerve blocks.
  • Surgery:
If conservative treatments fail, surgery may be recommended. A common procedure is an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, which removes the damaged disc or bone spur pressing on the nerve and then fuses vertebrae together.

Thaskin BS again !!!

Most go to the hospital to get better. He seems to get worse. Can you say orchestrated?  The story is now too old and been told too many times.

I don't think the Authorities will let him leave Thailand, until he has served his time?

Seems to be many family visits. I'm sure there's a limit.

Is the discussion monitored / recorded? Seems that there's still plenty of political discussions going on (through glass walls).

My understanding is that telephone (all types of telephone) and email etc., and all other forms of discussion / conversation with prisoners was totally banned. Is that correct?

But the box must be kept in a cell until the last day of his sentence!
