A buffalo suspected to have escaped from a slaughterhouse attacked locals in Chiang Mai, injuring three people before dying on September 20. The incident occurred in the Chang Klan district, affecting mainly the Akha ethnic community. A 56-year-old ladyboy suffered broken limbs, and a 65-year-old man sustained a broken leg. A rescuer was also reportedly hurt during the attack.

The chaos began as the buffalo charged residents and vehicles, including a rescue van. Witnesses described the buffalo's aggressive behavior before it was later found dead on the roadside. Conflicting reports emerged—some claimed a vehicle killed the buffalo, while others alleged it was shot up to 12 times, possibly by its owner attempting to stop any further chaos.

Efforts to determine the buffalo’s owner were unsuccessful, leaving questions about accountability. With varying accounts from media outlets KhaoSod and MBT News, the community remains in speculation. Calls for legal action against either the owner or the slaughterhouse have surfaced due to the negligence leading to injuries and damage.

Local authorities have yet to release a statement, leaving the issue unresolved. As residents await official reports, the incident underscores the importance of strict regulations regarding livestock management to prevent such occurrences in the future.

Key Takeaways

  • A buffalo rampage in Chiang Mai injured three people before dying.

Good for him! If he was going to be slaughtered, IMO, he had every right to kill every human he could.

We know one of the injured was 65 years old and one was a ladyboy but we don't know the age or sex of the buffalo.

How that? The buffalo wasn't sent from heaven, was he?

There is definitely an owner! Because it's about money. So finally RTP will find him

You don't have to wonder about the sex, just take a look at the picture.

RIP the buffalo. The slaughter and eating of animals over millenia is a stain on the human race.
