Trump never change his mind. He changes information agenda instead. Currently he wants the EU to fight against Putin for him. This is beneficial for the US only if the US people don’t have to die in Ukraine. And that is why the previous info agenda was about “Putin is my friend” or so.

Have seen unverified reports that one of the targets of this attack was Vladimir Saldo, the governor of occupied Kherson oblast. The article indicated that some important VIPs were at the resort at the time of the strike. It would be no surprise if Ukraine received intel on a meeting taking place and took the appropriate action. If so, yes, reason to cheer.

Russia is not a "paper tiger" per sa, but more like an incompetent, indifferent, and utterly corrupt entity, especially in the military. Their tactics and attitude towards fighting and their soldiers are just terrible. They still rely on the Stalin phrase that "Quantity has a quality all of it's own". However, that is no longer true in the new age of drones, robots and other advances... the Russian army is being slaughtered.

In 3 years, they have failed to even take 20% of Ukraine, and most of that which they took was from the early days when Ukraine was in disarray. The Russian attempt to take Hostomel Airport was just a disaster with their tactics away with the fairies really. The Russians lost all their best troops in the first 6 months of the conflict, which was supposed to only last 3 days... can you believe that's what the FSB and Kremlin thought would happen? Talk about delusional and useless.

All the West has done is given Ukraine some outdated kit (and good intel, admittedly) that would need to have been decommissioned/mothballed/sold off anyhow and most people don't realise how much that costs... might as well give it to Ukraine and see how it performs and grab the data for future development. I'm not taking away anything from Ukraine, it has done a great job fending off the Russians. But if Russia thinks it has a chance in a conventional engagement with NATO forces... it is dreaming, will get a new one ripped.

Like with most things Russian, it's all an illusion with threats, belligerence, and lies... a bully in the school yard. Trouble is, NATO countries, if they went for it, would decimate Russian land, sea, and air power fast.

Anyone worrying about their nukes should consider that probably only a tiny fraction of them are ready for deployment straight away. The cost of maintaning and servicing these weapons is crazy... look at what the US spends on it. Not saying they have none ready, but I bet it's a tiny fraction of what they boast about.

Trump said Russia can't defeat Ukraine because it's a paper tiger. Putin said something different. He said that in Ukraine, we're taking back what's ours. People are usually very careful with their property, so as not to break it.

Ukraine will win because of the courage and ingenuity of its soldiers & engineers & drone builders. Drones by the hundreds are now attacking Russian strategic targets daily and across most of Russia - fuel depots, arms storage, tanks, military airports and on & on. 

 

Ordinary Russians are now suffering from fuel shortages - gas stations empty - and a Russian winter not so far off. Airports closed. Hard to see how Russia can withstand all of that for much longer.

 

Latest news has Putin sacking more and more generals and government ministers either because they're incompetent or because he no longer trusts them. Replacing them with members of his own family (eg the new deputy Defence Minister is a woman with no military knowledge or background but just turns out to be a half-sister of Putin) ...

Europe, if it committed itself properly and was united through need, could handle that without the US. If Europe collectively pulled its finger from out of its backside, then it would be militarily very powerful... too much so for Russia (only thing Europe needs is the permission from the US to use its bigger-deal weapons), it [Russia] has been drained (which is probably the whole idea behind western help for Ukraine, i.e. to make Russia less of a threat), especially after all the losses it has sustained over the last 3 years. It will take Russia a very long time to rebuild itself, so that buys time for the West to get it's act together and confront China, which the US is definitely interest in.

Russia only respects strength, and that's what Europe collectively has to show... then Russia will back off, at least for a while until it thinks it can threaten and bully again.

What you have to do with Russia is show strength, like Turkey did by shooting down that Russian fighter a few years ago that went into Turkish airspace. Russia huffed-puffed with threats etc. but eventually did nothing, and no Russian jets violated Turkish airspace again as Turkey showed strength.

Russia is already far ahead in industrial capacity..Europe has crippled itself with high energy costs, high labour costs,de industrialisation 

decades long winding down of military capabilities (cost savings)

it will take years to re skill and re industrialise  then you will have to conscript an army willing to go fight someone else's  war.
