we all know corruption starts from the bottom to the top, few cops would be clean.

Got that the wrong way around. The greatest corruption is at the top.

  • From tomorrows headlines.....   After suspensions remaining 5  traffic cops are wondering how to cover all of Thailand.

  • In fairness to the cops, that's baked into the sauce.  Between a ridiculously low salary and requiring them to pay for their own equipment, they pretty much have to supplement their income with graft

  • Go easy - there will not be any cops left  😮

They all started at the bottom...stopping the corruption must start from the top

There's nothing but a dog and pony show. The RTP has never been serious about stopping corruption, quite the contrary.

I think at its conception it was decided we will not pay you enough, you will have to supply your own weapons and a lot of your own equipment, but in exchange we're going to give you a franchise and the extent to which you can earn is solely based on your own initiative and creativity, and you will not be prosecuted, unless you cross or betray the wrong guy.

You have got to wonder what their definitions are of misconduct and corruption.  If they aren't careful there won't be any cops left.

Better focus on the guys in the high positions instead of molesting the poor cops for making a few baht extra.

They are focussing on the bottom because too much upward cash flow is being diverted/siphoned off long before it reaches the deserving few at the top.

Any Immigration corruption worth taking a look at ?   😉

HERESY! How very dare you! 😤

Nah, Immi is fine, they have their "agents",  who are paid by skint people , often in pattaya.

And on KOH CHANG make up their own 'fees' like 100b for a 90day report and 2300b for an extension.

Yes KOH CHANG 100b for 90day report, 2300b for a extension and 23,000+b no money in the bank.

If you report them they will come and intimidate you at home.

Do they really think people are going to believe this BS? Everybody’s on the take, the army, plod and politicians. This is the just the face saving baloney for the most recent cop caught on camera incident. I hope more footage of the corrupt boys in brown keep getting exposed to keep the f***ers on their toes, they so deserve it.

The same thing happened with my girlfriend's 12-year-old nephew. When asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, he replied “a policeman”, to which I asked if that was because he wanted to drive a Mercedes.

A police officer who is somewhat clear-headed will next time look for a checkpoint where there is no camera above him.

Cant be many left if they did a proper clean out

The one in my soi owns 2 houses side by side cars come and go red plates always new cars for the kids wife never works all on a civil servants wage

they're doing this old pony show again??

well I guess it's been a few years so they need to make things look good.

The language used is totally beyond ridiculous.

Civilians caught in corruption probes go to court and if guilty, on to prison.

Officers found guilty of misconduct (by what legal process?) will face immediate suspension

One has to ask, if they are "found guilty" (sic) then why waste time on a suspension that has no threat? Why a lovely suspension where they can stay home and receive their salary?

Get money under the table, share it with your bosses and receive severe disciplinary action that does not lead to jail.

Park  800k in a Thai bank yearly,  pay 1900 baht ( not much for them ) for your 1 year extension of stay abiding by Thai immigration Law, you are still not treated well at the best of times.......

So your ok with paying an extra 400b for any extensions ? and 100b for a 90day report, even though you have the money in the bank, they have scores of people paying this daily, if your not part of the solution then you are part of the problem.

Doing it all myself now the last 5-6 extensions anyway.....my point is even abiding by the immigration laws, doing it yourself is not smooth sailing at the best of times......do as you wish, park 800k do it yourself or pay 23k plus and let them hold your hand for the year, 90 day reports etc..........the latter is the problem not the solution....

You have missed my point completely, I do mine myself and abide by the laws, I do 90day reports myself, but on Koh Chang they have their own 'fees'. As far as I know the only immigration office in the whole Kingdom, that a; want 100b fee for a 90 day report no receipt given b; 2,300b for all extensions, be it a one month for tourists or one year. But since I reported them I no longer have to pay the 100b fee, I do my yearly marriage extension on the main land in Trat, and pay 1,900b as it should be (that is where my bank is anyway) very nice staff who fill out all the forms for me and I just have to sign them, KC office use the ferry fee as a lever for their extra made up "service fees" and it is the guy from Trat office who has to come on the ferry for the home visit. Mucking Fental init.

If they would get new recruits and pay them more money and give them the necessities they need, then it would probably help. Give them monthly bonuses for hitting their ticket targets. All sounds great, but how do you deal with the mid to top level players. They run the game and are tied to many other illegal activities.
I agree with above. Show me your proof of yearly salary and your expenditures. Their salaries surely didn’t make them wealthy.

I remember years ago the New York coppers were very corrupt as they were significantly underpaid. The smart mayor of New York decided the only solution was to significantly increase their pay but on the condition that they do no more illegal money deals as once caught they would , as a minimum be sacked, any crimes that were regarded as significant would have the cop sentenced and jailed. Since that decision the cops significantly behaved.

Hint do that in Thailand.

Do the 90day on line....

Sack them all, re-employ the best half of what is left and double their salaries.

Bu99ers scammed me again yesterday in BKK.

Won't I need to buy a printer for that ?

Transfers to those lovely "inactive posts"...nothing will really change as tourists and foreigners are regularly racketed by the Thai police mainly in popular towns like Pattaya or Hua Hin.

This will only last a week.

That long?

A recent Police Chief in London, when questioned about their effectiveness,  said  " a good police force is one that catches more criminals than it employs"
