SC Asset Corporation Public Company Limited revealed on October 1, 2025, that Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has regained a 28.43% share in the company. This move involves the reacquisition of 1,216,149,870 ordinary shares from Kiatnakin Phatra Asset Management Company Limited and Land and Houses Fund Management Company Limited. The immediate impact is the restoration of Paetongtarn as the company's largest individual shareholder.

The shares were initially transferred to the asset management firms as required by the Ministerial Shareholding Management Act 2000. This legislation mandates government ministers to manage their business assets through specific arrangements while holding office. Prior to recapture, the shares were divided between Kiatnakin Phatra (23.99%) and Land and Houses (4.44%).

SC Asset assured stakeholders that the change in shareholding will not alter the company’s control, business operations, or board composition. The reacquisition concludes the mandatory asset management period that aligned with ministerial ethics. Paetongtarn's previous separation from the shares was to comply with regulatory requirements during her tenure.

Her return to the company as its largest shareholder comes amid recent political events. Paetongtarn was removed from office following an August 29 Constitutional Court ruling. The court decided she breached ethics laws relating to a border dispute with Cambodia over leaked audio recordings involving Cambodian leader Hun Sen.

Looking forward, Paetongtarn continues leading the Pheu Thai Party, a position that keeps her influence in Thai politics alive. There is speculation about her next moves both in business and politics. Any upcoming developments will remain closely watched by analysts and the public.

Key Takeaways

  • Paetongtarn Shinawatra reacquires 28.43% shareholding in SC Asset.
  • The company's operations, control, and board remain unaffected.
  • Her political leadership continues despite her removal from office.

Lucky she didn't have shares in a 10 year old defunct media company.....but had forgotten about them.

If a Minister holds more than 5% of shares in a company they must:

1.  Notify the National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) within 30 days of appointment.

2.  Transfer excess shares to a juristic person (e.g. blind trust) within 90 days.

3.  Report the transfer to the NCCC within 10 days of completion

So maybe this is what will happen??????

We shall see.

So she initially transfers the shares to someone else so she does not have to claim them as the PM. Now that she has lost that position she has requested and gotten those shares back.

The police should be investigating if money was used to repurchase the shares at current rates or if those shares were just held by another to keep her name off the records whilst being the PM.

Somehow, I think it is pretty easy to see that she suffered no loss repurchasing shares. So most likely she always retained those shares using a patsy that was able to keep them for her so she could become the PM.

Doubt it as I thought Anutin named a completely new cabinet?

I don't think so because her party isn't a coalition partner.

She is not a Minister. Lost her MP status when Anutin's new government was sworn in. She is only the leader of the Pheu Thai party, so no restrictions on what she can own.

Love to see how you justify that false smear!

Ar least she won't be penniless despite losing her job. What a relief.
