Because it stinks and so non users are impacted whether they like it or not?

so when in a restaurant and some  total j/a lights up a cigarette when people are trying to enjoy a meal,  I'm sure you would not mind if someone stuck a plastic bag over their head and tied it shut ...    correct ?

Sure lets go back to the whole country being stoned. Great idea. And then they wonder why there are no (decent) tourists.

It's got plenty to do with non Thais as they are also impacted by Thai laws.

Nah, they leave me alone and I ignore any laws I don't like.

I've been buyin cannabis in LINE since COVID.

The laws have made no difference to me.

They proposed amendments to cultivation rules, criticising mandatory lab testing for growers with Good Agricultural Practice certification as burdensome.  ---> given the "bad low quality weed" sold around in many shops (not all of course, but a fairly significant amoun), given the lack of regulation in that concern, quality control, testing and strict regulations is welcome. Also, i am not "bluntly" against cannabis, but against the annoying public use of it and being forced to breath it in when wlaking down the street (for those who live in areas with weed shops around and tourist presence). Keep it effing private.

Cigarettes stink. Black smoke-belching vehicles stink, Middle Eastern men wearing cologne so strong that you can barely breath when they're nearby stinks.  There are others.  I have NEVER been in an area with strong weed smell in Phuket.  Weed doesn't need to be banned because of your sensitivity, it needs to be regulated so that the general public (those who don't like the lovely smell) don't have to smell it.

We must have stronger Cannabis in Canada. I smell it daily in numerous different locations from 30' away.

not sure why everyone says it stinks, I love the smell, it's just so good, come on, open up your noses 🤣

Well, the horrible bad effects of consuming cannabis and vaping are evident and proved by uncountable studies

Well, if they prefer to lose an important part of their visitors over cheap weed smokers, up to them, thais are the best at shooting themselves in the foot.

I have no sympathy, it was decriminalised for medicinal purposes only, not a free for all.

When was that? I have seen whole sois of drunks but never a soi full of happy smokers.

Thailand can always be trusted to do the right thing, once all other possibilities have been exhausted. Free da weed!

Please provide some of these uncoutable studies. You can even link to the study where mice were continuously force fed vape smoke if you like. I can't remember the name of this study but you must be well aware of it as you obviously have some knoweledge of these "uncountable studies" that prove "horrible bad effects".

I live in Phuket Town and go out all the time. I rarely smell it.  I don't believe you can smell it from 30 feet away unless the wind is specifically blowing right at you... and even if it did, it would be brieft.

It's not my fault if you don't know anything. If your doctor prescribes you medicine, do you ask him to provide a study????

You see how stupid it is?

But you can have one. If you want to read more (can you) go for your own research.

New Analysis Underscores Health Risks of E-Cigarettes | Johns Hopkins Medicine https://share.google/9e0x1noDR0c2OMgYc

Thank you for the link. Here are some takeaways for you as you obviouly didn't read it. Please keep in mind I have never said vaping is without risk and no smoking anything is optimal but in relation to cigarette smoking (cigs being legal) and vape smoking (vapes being illegal) the risks from tobacco smoking is greater.

The new analysis, they note, further verifies that while the use of either e-cigarettes or traditional “combustible” cigarettes is linked to higher risks and rates of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), the effect is substantially stronger for traditional cigarettes.

“there remains great uncertainty about the relative harm of e-cigarettes as compared to traditional smoking. Until now, there has been scant longitudinal data in large high-quality datasets linking exclusive e-cigarettes use to new-onset cardiometabolic health conditions,”

For the analysis, researchers used medical information on 249,190 people, including 203,932 who reported never using e-cigarettes or combustible cigarettes (203,932), 3,164 who reported exclusively using e-cigarettes, 33,778 who reported exclusively using combustible cigarettes, and 8,316 who reported using both e-cigarettes and combustible cigarettes.

Those who experienced disease were characterized by their e-cigarette and combustible cigarette use patterns. In the follow-up period after almost four years, 23,745 new cases of hypertension were found, along with 13,179 new cases of type 2 diabetes; 7,925 new cases of COPD; 9,801 new cases of heart failure; and 6,139 new cases of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Of those cases, it was found that exclusive e-cigarette use was not significantly associated with type 2 diabetes, heart failure or atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, but it was significantly associated with COPD. In a sub-analysis of individuals ages 30–70, there was a small increased risk of hypertension.

In contrast, results showed that exclusive use of combustible cigarettes significantly increased the risks for all outcomes, including hypertension, type 2 diabetes, COPD, heart failure, and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Similar results were shown for dual use of combustible cigarettes and e-cigarettes although risk estimates were slightly larger than for exclusive combustible cigarette use.

Blaha says the new study suggests that e-cigarettes have definite potential health risks, although the risks may be less than what is seen for traditional combustible cigarette smoking alone.

Complete deflection. You're the one who brought up studies. I provided information from the study you linked to. Why don't you address what you posted? Cigs are worse than vapes. This is what the study you provided concluded. Cigs are legal and vapes aren't. Vapes being made illegal had nothing to do with health and everything to do with protecting the government monopoly tobacco industry and tax revenue. Dope was recriminalised so as to create a monopololy. Anyone who can't see this is deluded.

I was just reading an article the other day, BBC, I guess.  They wrote about how more and more people throughout Europe are turning to vaping in order to quit smoking cigarettes.  There is a call for more regulation and open information about e-liquids so people know what they are inhaling.  As all educated people know, it’s not the nicotine per se that is harmful (albeit can be/is addictive).  With vaping you are not subjected to the combustion delivery method of nicotine which creates the tar residue in the lungs together with the pyroxenes used to enhance the delivery of nicotine to the brain thus making the nicotine more addictive than without this addition.  Furthermore tons of more chemicals are added to the tobacco in cigarettes for flavours, and other modifiers.  This makes vaping less harmful (I’m not saying harmless!) and a useful tool for quitting smoking.

FYI we have nicotine receptors in our body, (just like endocannabinoid receptors) “nicotine acetyl choline receptors”, so nicotine is something the body needs.  Did you know that all nightshade veggies contain nicotine?  However, I’ve never met a person addicted to eggplant or potatoes 🤣.

Furthermore scientists at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, have found that nicotine users were underrepresented in hospitals having Covid.  It is thought that our body’s nicotine receptors prefer nicotine to the Covid spike protein.  However, this science report (which was supported by many scientists worldwide), was needless to say never allowed to reach MSM.

Finally, yes it’s madness, IMO, to forbid vaping here, it should be regulated just like it is in the “civilised countries”.  I believe Thailand is losing quite a few prosperous European tourists due to this uneducated knee jerk decision.  Vaping is cleaner, no buts, no ashes and most often odourless steam.  However, I guess Thailand is trying to protect its tobacco industry, no one wants to lose money.  They should look to other countries where the tobacco industry itself is jumping in on the vaping bandwagon.

Finally, obviously it would be better not to smoke/vape at all and only allow healthy air into our lungs.  Did I say healthy air? 😂😂😂

As often. No discussion possible. And why is this? Because you want to be only RIGHT. Look at the words you use: DELUDED, DEFLECTION.

Even your facts are wrong, (vapes have nothing to do with health) you wouldn't admit but try to beat me.

(My question is still unanswered)

Cheers. I would like to point out, however, that nicotine has inflamatory properties so it still effects the cardiovascular system just to a much lesser degree than tobacco.
