Thailand to Reconsider Cannabis Laws Amid Industry Concerns

given the "bad low quality weed" sold around in many shops (not all of course, but a fairly significant amoun), given the lack of regulation in that concern, quality control, testing and strict regulations is welcome.

That's true about the quality, as well as questionable use of pesticides if it's an outdoor grow. I've been told by store owners that at least some of it comes from outside the country, which makes me even more skeptical about the purity.

However, I think it's better for a market solution to address this. Weed was already getting better. Get the government out of the way.

As often. No discussion possible. And why is this? Because you want to be only RIGHT. Look at the words you use: DELUDED, DEFLECTION.

Even your facts are wrong, (vapes have nothing to do with health) you wouldn't admit but try to beat me.

(My question is still unanswered)

Show me where I said vapes have nothing to do with health. I SAID making vapes illegal had nothing to do with health.

2.10 PM can buy cannabis and get smashed out of your head, but not a can of beer in a proper shop, bonkers.

Take your ball and run on home. If you can't support your argument don't make it in the first place. You said there are ucountable studies about horrible effects and the only link you gave when challenged concludes that vaping is less harmful than cigarette smoking.

again:

If your doctor prescribes you medicine, do you ask him to provide a study????

I always check on any medication before consuming it.  Doctors follow the protocol of the hospitals/government.  Doctors have 10 mins to assess a patient.  Iatrogenic mistakes are the 2nd or 3rd leading cause of death in the US.  So yes, it’s imperative to check, I learned that lesson the hard way!

Good for you.

And how many times you asked your doctor to present a study??

I'm largely opposed to cannabis  but I'd put a reprieve of one year or two to allow for a economic soft landing - maybe stopping imports of cannabis a little earlier. The quality of the tourists who come to Thailand for cannabis are really low and I doubt that the tourists themselves are the main economic benefit of making cannabis legal. (note I support having medicinal cannabis under prescription for whatever it is used for).

I do that myself, the doctor wouldn’t be interested in telling you. He follows protocol orders.

As regards vaping,  it is considered to be LESS HARMFUL than cigarette smoking.  In fact, I read an article the other day, I think it was BBC, that said that vaping is increasing throughout Europe these days as more people are quitting cigarettes.
it’s not the nicotine that’s harmful on its own, but the delivery method.  Cigarettes use combustion which entails tarring the lungs, which vaping does NOT.  Cigarette makers add pyroxenes to the tobacco in order to amplify the action of nicotine, so as to make it MORE addictive.  Many other chemicals are added to enhance flavours as well as to ensure the burning ensues in a smooth way.

Obviously, vape liquid can be anything, however if purchased from reputable sources it is LESS harmful than cigarettes and  delivers nicotine in a somewhat safer way.

We have nicotine receptors in our body, (nicotine acetyl choline receptors), just as we have cannabinoid receptors too.  Scientists from the Pasteur Institute in Paris (together with scientists around the world) found that nicotine users were underrepresented in hospitals with Covid.  There was a long discussion between many scientists that when the nicotine receptors in our bodies already had nicotine, this substance was favoured to the Covid Spike protein, hence lesser nicotine users got sick with Covid.  Obviously these findings never made it to MSM

i believe in reading both sides of any science papers, these days scientists are often paid to produce a certain outcome in order to favour a certain industry.

Unfortunately, many people stubbornly refuse to be open enough to even study something, unless of course they already know that the likelihood of the outcome of the study will support their own views already held.

So, I believe also that Thailand may be losing some prosperous European tourists due to criminalising vaping.  Vaping is not only LESS HARMFUL, but cleaner (no buts, no ashes) also mostly odourless (with some exceptions).  Regards protecting the tobacco industry, many of these industries in the west are now selling vapes as well.
What must be done, is to regulate the e-liquid industry and only allow serious producers of e-liquid to be for sale.  Dubai managed to do this.  Around 10yrs ago, vaping was illegal in Dubai, they changed this and have licensed stores selling vaping products.  It can be done!

Unless you are a Thai Citizen. It has got nothing to do with you what the government does.

You are only a guest in Thailand.

Quite a few of you should stop and remember that.

If I went to your country and started running down what your countries govt. policies are.

You would tell me to stuff off.

Perhaps it should apply to some of you.

No , I would not. I would agree. Most governments, all over the world, suck.

That is some weird reasoning you lay out there, that you are only allowed to criticise the government you are a citizen of.

Yeah buthe also took a lot of flack since he did it.  IF BJT is loking to replace PTP then I think he will look at the population rather than the people that run the shops.  Remember most ofthe shops are owned by a few families.

As long as the right persons hona be bribed you dont need to worry. Nothing will change. Thank you corruption.

Additionally, the group opposes a draft regulation restricting cannabis sales to medical clinics, citing fears of reducing the current 10,000 licensed shops to just 100.

10,000 licenced shops? Where i live there are 15,000 shops LOL

what do you want TAT, return to familiy oriented quality tourists or 75% weed guzzling pot heads?

Depends on the policy, if same as Thailand I would say exactly what I said...as for Thai citizen, mate, guess what, this forum is mainly expats, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.... Stuff off ya bogan

💯 Correct, and not being enforced, like most laws, is what caused the problem...the RTP has a lot to answer to..

A pleasant feeling, but a very unpleasant smell.

Quite recently a colleague complained that his neighbours were smoking it in their garden and the smoke/smell was wafting into his garden.

555, what a joke this government is...bowing to business...this government has no balls, how can it be good for Thailand, can't make decisions...most Thais have expressed they want cannabis controlled, this government, as usual, ignored what the people want. Cowards...useless

So many thumps down... obviously a lot of addicts.

In my whole lifetime I tried it 3 or 4 times. One positive thing that I will say about it is that it really helped me sleep.

This must be the most confused policy ever introduced by any govt  ....ever!

As well they should reconsider the revocation of these laws, billions were invested by young entrepreneurs with the presumption that the government would honor their commitment, and maintain some level of sane consistency with regard to Industry. Changing the law amounts to a massive betrayal on the part of the Thai government toward a predominantly youthful  investment and entrepreneural community.

It's a horrific outcome and must be reversed.

Do not agree. I used to smoke that stuff when in my youth. Never got addicted. Only had it when in the mood whether that be monthly or yearly or more now. The kids these days drink spirits like water which has harsher affects to their health and ability. Yet is also legal but affects you far more especially when driving. Dope never affected my driving ability. Alcohol did!

"A controlled herb" that cracked me up . Thailand is crazy enough with controlled herbs; I can't imagine the carnage if uncontrolled herbs have carte blanche to where they grow
