The specific incident I'm referring to happen in Lopburi back in March where I was slapped to the back of the head and it was reported to police who did nothing until I reported it to the Tourist police

Ahh, okay. So the monkey did 'violently assault' you by slapping you on the head, but the ladyboy only almost 'brutally assaulted' you?  It's hard to keep up with so much drama in your life.

Yes that's right

He tried to hug me but touched my front pocket where my wallet was and even though I'm not proud of myself my immediate reaction was to push him back which for some reason I didn't even plan it just was a immediate response

, he fell over but just the shocked look on his face made me sad , he got up and ran before I could apologise

I have to live with that everyday

From this link, it shows that the majority of Vietnamese people are against the trade and don't see it as part of their culture anyway. That means some started the practice, much like dog fighting, and others. like sheep. followed, of course many for profit................Each year, more than six million dogs and cats are brutally slaughtered in Vietnam. A FOUR PAWS survey conducted in early 2021 across Vietnam found that the vast majority of Vietnamese want their government to take action. 91% of participants responded saying that the trade should be banned or discouraged. When asked if they would support a ban on the dog and cat meat trade, 88% of respondents said that they would be in favor of such a measure. In addition, respondents were asked if they felt consumption of dog and cat meat was part of Vietnamese culture, with the resounding answer being no, with 95% indicating that this was not part of their culture.  ............https://www.fourpawsusa.org/our-stories/press-releases/highway-to-hell-takes-dogs-and-cats-to-slaughter

How about a ban on all meat trade, whats fair for cats and dogs is fair for pigs, sheep and cows

Billions eat meat, and not domestic animals. People have come a long way from caveman status, but not all. Some people will eat anything, which attests to their thinking.

No, meat is tasty.  Especially a Wagyu cheeseburger with melted Swiss or Cheddar, Raw Onion and Tomato, Texas BBQ with Heinz Beans, BBQ sauce and Onions, Grilled Swordfish with Lemon Pepper and Brown Rice and a dozen raw Oysters, Grilled Chicken with Italian Dressing, Grilled Ribeye, T-Bone, Porterhouse or Sirloin Steak, medium rare to medium, Tuna Sushi with Soy, Chicago or New York Hot Dogs with everything, Philadelphia Cheesesteak with melted Cheddar and Onions, New York Style Pizza with Italian Sausage and Anchovies, Pot Roast with Potatoes, Green Beans, small Onions  and Brown Gravy, Blackened Snapper with Rice Pliaf and Corn on the Cob, or a Banh Mi with Chicken, Sauce and Lettuce.

Lots of countries eat dogs. I saw people taking a dead dog from the road in Zambia to eat it. Do you eat chicken, port, lamb or beef? What is the difference?

Some animals are domesticated for companionship, helpers, and life savers and protectors, dogs and cats. Some are domesticated as food, and some as working animals. People are capable of doing whatever they like with animals, and humans, as some treat other humans as objects and slaves also, although they've stopped eating humans except for a few tribes. Some people never are civilized, and do whatever they want to survive, even if that includes inhumane or barbaric treatment, which most of the animal trade is, meaning dogs and cats, which are pets.

You eat other animals so what is the difference? I don't agree with barbaric treatment no but I don't see why dogs should be different to other animals that we eat.

It's how we were raised in the last century, not needing to turn to just anything for food, and looking more at dogs and cats as companions, and caretakers for the disabled. Any animal's meat can be eaten, and some might say dog tastes good, but you can't compare it to the other meats we've become accustomed to, and anyone can adjust to eating anything if you're starving.

These animals are abused, and  slaughtered in inhumane ways, and many are stolen pets, and sold  for profit, by people who have no heart for these animals and only see them as cash, just the same as trafficked humans.

I had lizard here once, and never again. Of course it's protein, the same as many bugs, but we should be more civilized than some who turn to just anything as food. Eating snakes I can see, as they do taste like chicken, and many are dangerous to humans, so they should be eaten, but anyone who's had a dog understands, and wouldn't eat them. I'm thinking eventually they'll be banned everywhere as food. ..............https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/article/domesticated-animals

I agree many people find eating dogs is terrible but if you take it in context animals are eaten daily and no one gives it a second thought.

S. Korea , a modern country, recently outlawed eating dogs.  Apparently for some who enjoy eating Fido it has special taste.  For Vietnam what about cats?

They eat cats in Thai Binh, southeast of Hanoi, but mostly it's dog on the rural menus. I never tried it but I did eat some pussy in Do Son.

Is Vietnam and Cambodia the only countries to EAT DOGS ?

NO! (for reference Google)

  • China: Dog meat consumption is not part of the mainstream culinary culture and is declining, though it is still eaten in some southern provinces, especially among older residents. The controversial Yulin dog meat festival attracts international attention, but is largely driven by commercial interests rather than traditional custom.
  • South Korea: The consumption of dog meat has a long history, particularly in the form of a soup called bosintang, and was associated with perceived health benefits. However, the practice is now rare and has been formally banned, with a full prohibition on the breeding, sale, and slaughter of dogs for meat scheduled to take effect in 2027.
  • Vietnam: Dog meat is considered a delicacy in some areas, particularly in the north, and is sometimes associated with social gatherings or bringing good luck. Consumption has been declining, especially among younger generations.
  • Indonesia: Despite the country having a Muslim majority, which considers dog meat forbidden (haram), consumption occurs in specific, non-Muslim ethnic communities in places like North Sulawesi and Bali, often linked to ceremonies or festivities.
  • Cambodia: An estimated 2 to 3 million dogs are killed annually for meat, which is consumed by both locals and visiting tourists. The consumption, however, is a controversial practice, particularly among younger Khmer people. (the consumption of dog meat is only outlawed in Siem Reap Province)
  • Laos: Along with Cambodia and Thailand, Laos is a key supplier of dogs for Vietnam's dog meat trade.
  • Northeastern India: Dog meat is consumed in certain states, such as Nagaland and Mizoram, where it is considered a delicacy and, by some, to have medicinal properties.
  • Nigeria: In parts of Nigeria, dog meat is consumed for specific rituals, believed medicinal properties, or simply as a food source. It is known as a delicacy in some regions.
  • Ghana: Certain communities view dog meat as a delicacy or eat it during specific spiritual rituals.
  • Cameroon and Democratic Republic of the Congo: Dog meat is consumed for religious rituals or as an alternative protein source in some regions.
  • Switzerland: While not a common practice, there have been documented instances of some farmers in rural areas killing and consuming their own dogs for personal use. Commercial slaughter and sales, however, are illegal.
  • Philippines: While the dog meat trade has been banned, clandestine operations still exist in some regions. Historically, dog meat was part of certain ritualistic practices in some indigenous groups.
  • North Korea: Dog meat, called dangogi or "sweet meat," is a traditional food, especially during the hottest summer days, when it is believed to provide stamina.
  • Uzbekistan: The consumption of dog meat is primarily associated with the ethnic Korean diaspora, who also use dog fat for medicinal ointments.

Doesn't surprise me, I have to say, those Alpine mountain folk always struck me as a bit primitive with their leather pants and antlers on the wall.

Not to mention their coarse accent, :I can well believe they eat dogs in Switzerland.

  • The practice is said to be more prevalent in rural areas, particularly in regions like Lucerne, Appenzell, Jura, and parts of the canton of Bern.

  • Oh my God...

Hundreds of thousands of Swiss people eat cat and dog meat say activists, who want the practice to be made illegal.

A petition with 16,000 signatures has been handed to the Swiss parliament, calling for the government to stop people eating "domestic animals".

"Around three percent of the Swiss secretly eat cat or dog," said Tomi Tomek, founder and president of animal protection group SOS Chats Noiraigue.

Cat appears on traditional Christmas menus in some areas of Switzerland.

It is often cooked for the festive season in a similar way to rabbit - with white wine and garlic.

"We especially see it in the regions of Lucerne, Appenzell, Jura and in the canton of Bern," said Tomek.

Dog meat goes mostly into making sausages and a fatty remedy for rheumatism.

    Cats too!

    The Swiss are so primitive...

Sakhon Nakhon. I was told you don't see many black dogs there because black dogs are the tastiest. Not joking. As for "Is Vietnam and Cambodia the only countries to EAT DOGS?" no is the answer. Been on the dinner plate in Korea for a very long time.
