A British motorcyclist tragically lost his life after a crash in Chiang Mai involving three vehicles. The accident occurred early Thursday morning in the Juvenile Court underpass on Chiang Mai-Lampang Road. Craig D, 51, died instantly after he fell off his motorbike and was hit by three cars.

Around 12:20 a.m. on 9 October, emergency rescue teams responded to the scene in Mueang District. They found the motorbike overturned on the road's upward slope, with debris and bloodstains marking the scene. Craig's severely damaged body indicated the violent nature of the collision.

Rescue officers controlled the traffic and provided lighting for investigators and medical personnel. Evidence was collected before the victim’s body was taken for an autopsy. Authorities stress heightened caution for motorists, particularly during night hours on sloped roads.

Officials highlight the dangers of high-speed travel and the potential hazards of water or dust on roads, which can lead to accidents. The tragic incident underscores the risks associated with motorcycle travel, especially in challenging road conditions.

Key Takeaways

  • Craig D, a British national, died following a crash in Chiang Mai.
  • The accident involved three cars on a road underpass.
  • Authorities urge careful driving to reduce fatal accidents.

Certainly hope folks who read these tragic bike stories realize that that one miscalculation on the road on a bike at high speed could very well be the end, helmet or not.

Condolences to your family Craig.

Very sad indeed. Condolences to his loved ones.

i ride motorcycles in spite of my advanced age (77), but this is the reason I never ride after dark.

Dark, speeding and on a bad road.

Alcohol, no helmet, unlicensed?

They never learn.

ive had 4 accidents myself, it hurts, at the end i planned my trips for food to minimize risk, and only drove to get food & beverage.

other trafficants simply dont see bikes

My wife just told me about this today so I checked here to make sure it was posted.

As far as driving goes Thailand will give you the rope to hang yourself so just because you can doesn't mean you should. Now more than ever I see tourists going too fast and not keeping to the left on busy roads where they don't understand how Thai people drive. It's a disaster waiting to happen.

If speculating - I agree with you - its a fair speculation...... But if it had been a Thai who had died, you would not have written those words, and you would have accused whoever did write them of 'Thai-bashing'...

Now... any evidence / info of the rider being drunk, unlicensed, riding without a helmet, and speeding ?

I'm not saying you are wrong, given the time - 12:20am, you are probably right, but again, had it been a Thai and someone else (myself for example) made the same comment, you'd be cry-babying with faux outrage accusations of bigotry and racism...

Have you read the story elsewhere that provides better facts, perhaps holding them for yourself so you can drop them in later and accuse people of being 'apologists' etc ??...   (just predicting your usual behavior Malcy).

Not safe at all.

I guess you missed the the question mark which indicates I was asking a question and not making an accusation.

And you have maybe forgotten that I am a big advocate of never riding a motorcycle when having had a drink.
You stay safe out there.

Not this time but I often fact check what I read here for the sake of accuracy.

Was he riding a KTM?

Another article I read it was a Kawasaki.

I thought it may have been a different guy but hit by 3 cars, similar story.

I'm a big bike rider, I take my 1260cc Ducati out only in daylight, good weather, BEFORE my evening beer.

Same incident.

Enjoy the ride knowing there’s no immunity for being potential roadkill riding at any time any where on any bike.

He had an open face helmet and license, the alcohol is unknown.

Oh, the photo was attached to an article I read, the article said Kawasaki.

But if you say I read the photo, I read the photo 🤔

Yes, anywhere in any country.

Riding in a dangerous manner, or being incompetent is a main factor in death on the road.

that went on to say this....

Another tragic data point.

Had he been traveling in a 4 wheeler with seat belts fastened, there's a pretty good chance he'd be home with his loved ones.

Nope, it wasn't that article. Similar photo I must say.

You must have nothing better to do.

Like I said earlier, I must of read the photo 😂

You stay safe out there.

But you don't worry about the other motorcyclists, pedestrians and drivers when you drink and drive.

That was Mongy Malcs speculation - he always blames the foreigner.

Though to be fair - in this case... I do wonder IF booze was involved given the timing of the incident.

That's the bike, KTM Super Duke. The accident was on the Super Highway, well lit road.
