As kids growing up in Manchester we had Belle Vue fun park, in the photo you can see the "Bobs" as we called them was also home to the "Aces" the speedway stadium, we used to save up and go watch the speedway and then go in the fair ground, that was in the early 60's,

In my village there was a steelworks, Crown Wallpaper and one chippy. Dreaded my mum sending me to the chippy at lunchtime, because if I timed it wrong, i'd be in the queue behind a dozen workers, each one wanting something like:

"10 fish and chips, 4 pie and chips, 2 steak pudding and chips" for them and their work mates.

Was that Holmes Chapel?

Woolworths was founded in the UK in Liverpool in 1909, becoming a beloved retail giant known for its fixed low prices and diverse range of goods like toys and stationery. After a century of operation and reaching a peak of 1,141 stores by the 1960s, the company struggled with competition and went into administration, leading to the closure of all stores by January 2009. The brand name and website were later sold, with the online store ceasing operations in 2015 and the brand ultimately being acquired by a German company in 2021.

Thanks chat GPT, I was feeling the need for some AI slop

I recall being 14 or 15 ('72 or '73), after school working at Coles Adelaide Aus. I forget our actual titles (sh*t kickers?) but I recall the 18 year old trainee manager calling us "Ace" or "Knackers".

Learn't a hell of a lot in those early years.🙃🙃

Guilty.........

I remenber the good old days when Slim Dusty and Joy Mckean used to roll into town every year and perfom in the local hall. Also Jimmy Sharmans boxing  Troupe as the local show. They are good memories when things were simple and you didn't have to show I.D. and put a wrist band on to get into an event.

Tragically, Eddie Cochran died the next month.  He was 21 years old.

When I was 18yo after getting my driving license in 1964, my Dad offered me my first car...
