  • Without a "none" category, this poll is uselessly biased.

Atheism is based on facts not faith. Agree width other comment that should be a NON choice .

If evil had a masterpiece, it would be religion. Not war, not greed, not tyranny—but the sanctified lie that binds minds, divides humanity, and sells obedience as virtue. No invention has done more to fracture truth, suppress inquiry, and justify cruelty than religion. It is not divine—it is diabolical. And until we free ourselves from its chains, we will never know what it means to think, to choose, or to truly be free.

I am blown away by the fact that intelligent people can believe in some form of higher-being......weird.

If you observe what happens in this world there is a much stronger argument for the existence of the devil than for any God.

God exists only in the minds of people, and anyone that says He does not exist knows nothing about the minds of people

Timely Info-graphic for inclusion into this topic. You'd think half our AseanNow members are from China, Japan, or South Korea.  But? More likely Great Britain. But the poll does mirror the info-graphic is showing that "Non-Religious" outnumber "Atheists" in most cases.

So, the numbers are right up there with the Canadians. It's not hard to see why the world is in such sad shape when over half have no divinely inspired moral compass and live their lives using moral relativism......"I determine what is right or wrong, and MY truth is all that matters". I do believe that Hitler, Stalin and Mao Zedong all felt the same way.

And that is a form of existence. Dreams, nightmares, emotions, memories, etc.. also only exist in the minds of people, but they do exist. Most don't think God exists as a physical entity.

Got this from a movie I watched just recently.......when a guy was asked if he believed in god, he replied, "I have no need of that hypothesis", which I thought was a great answer.!!

Me, what to believe in, "What goes around, comes around"............🤫

Did you realise that the wafer just remained a wafer.?

Proud to be a Prod here.

Very strange! A few priests I have come across in the CofE have been total hypocrites. The first of which was at an early time of my life. My voice was starting to break and he called me out in front of full congregation. Another one was a total foul mouthed individual when not wearing his collar. There have been a few more I have come across, and they certainly shouldn't be priests.

If they call themselves priests they should not be in the C of E anyway.

Are you familiar with the 39 Articles.?

Good to meet you Surasak.

I work on the basis, (and I know that people will say it is a cop out) that there are more things in heaven and earth than we mortals can explain.

Catholicism has it's mysteries, acknowledges them and accepts them. I find that a comfort. For example, I cannot explain the Virgin Birth, nor the real presence of Our Blessed Lord at the Consecration at Holy Mass, nor the Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary, but I can believe in them. As for death, well as the prayer holds, love is eternal, and death is but a horizon, and a horizon is nothing more than the limit of our sight.

Heavy stuff, but you ( the OP) did ask...

Do you really believe in the real presence that (in Rome's words) the wafer becomes really, truly and substantially the body of Christ. When your own senses of sight, touch, smell and taste tell you that it is just a wafer.

I first learned that at 15 years of age in a dry as dust history lesson at school, it shocked me then and I'm still amazed by it now.

Nice to meet you anyway JAG.

Quite correct.

I was in Rocky Sullivan's bar in New York in 1998. Just thought I'd mention it.

The word God has become empty of meaning through thousands of years of misuse... By misuse, I mean that people who have never glimpsed the realm of the sacred, the infinite vastness behind that word, use it with great conviction, as if they knew what they are talking about. Or they argue against it, as if they knew what it is they are denying. This misuse gives rise to absurd beliefs, assertions, and egoic delusions, such as "My or our God is the only true God, and your God is false," or Nietzsche's famous statmeent "God is dead.

This can also be said about Allah

Allah (الله) is the Arabic word for "God," used by Arabic-speaking Christians, Jews, and especially Muslims

Which 39 articles might they be?!

Ah obviously not.

The 39 Articles of Faith.. The Protestant document   which, jointly with Scripture, the Church of England was based on.

Sadly ignored today.
